if someone could PLEASE help me, i would be soo grateful. here is the situation...i need a new starter, so i went out and got one, and now can't get the second bolt off. it will NOT budge. have already tried every wrench, including impact, tried chiseling up to undo the stuck threads..etc. called mechanic and they said they can't blowtorch it off..don't know why. i am DESPERATE. i really need to get my car up and running again, so if anyone can help, please do. i don't know that much about cars, i am an 18 yr old female, but my dad is helping. his next step is to try and sawzall it off. ANY reply would be sooo much appreciated. thank you!!!!!

I wouldn't be so hasty to use the sawzall, once you destroy the head of the bolt it will be that much harder to grasp. You tried an impact tool, was it an air wrench ? I would try an air impact wrench but first try to get some penetrating oil up to the threads. Use a quality rust eating oil, not WD-40 or the like. Do this a few times and give it some time to work. Then try hitting it with the air impact wrench, hope this helps.

Another thought -- I assume you tried using a cheater bar? Sometimes all you need is more torque on the bolt. Get a piece of pipe (exhaust pipe, whatever), put the socket/wrench on the bolt, and then use the pipe as an extended lever to try to turn the bolt. If I were you, I'd make sure to use a 6-sided socket rather than the more popular 12 sided sockets. After all, you don't want to turn the edges off the bolt.
