gearing and RPMs

i was reading over on suprastore.com about the HKS single turbo upgrade and the guy was saying that he never lost to any other single turbo supras due to him knowing which gear and RPM to start at. and im wondering what hes talking about. how starting at different RPMs in different gears will give u an advantage? what gear should u start a rolling start race in and at what RPM? there any formulas? like starting at 50 be in 2nd at 5000rpm or something? what about stoplight races? (i suck ass at launching)

I am not aware of any formulas for launching. You can only learn that by practise (the more power you have, the lower the rpms so you dont spin the tires)
