96 Escort no start

Hello all. Well I'll make this short and to the point. 96 Escort 1.9 5speed. 214,000 on her. I'ts my dads car and it won't start. I tried a coil pack to no avail. The car has spark and fuel but won't start. I grabbed a ignition module from work.(salvage yard) But ofcourse the engineers had to move it in 96 compared to the 91-95 cars. Anyone know where it is and if it might be the problem?? Or does anyone think it could be the ECU??

try presing down on the accelerator a tiny bit, and if it starts, then there is your problem, your iac needs to be replaced

nope, tried that. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Do a compression check, anything unusual ?
With 200k on it they were very prone to cracking and dropping out valve seats, makes it kind of tough to start like that.

Hmmm, I had kind of that about that. I'll grab my compression tester and try that. Looks like I'll be futzing with it while I'm on my christmas vacation.

Check the timing belt.

Internal combustion engines need compression, fuel and spark to run. You say you have fuel and spark so the ignition module is good. Check the compression. Should be over 100psi with the high mileage without a 15 psi difference between cylinders.

jeffescortlx- thanks for the suggestion but he just had one put on about 2 months ago. It doesn't sound any different when you try to start like if the timing belt was broke.
