i am taking out the motor in my GST, and i have everything undone from the tranny, because i am only trying to take out the longblock. That doesnt seem to be possible, because i tried to raise the motor out, but it wont come out, it is still stuck on the tranny thing, i need to know what to do, or should i just take the tranny out with it? Thanks or can you point me to a faq or something, because i need some info tonight before i start tommorow, Thanks

I tried to pull the motor with the tranny still in teh car. I dont see how that can be time-effective. The trobuel is getting the tranny input shaft out of the clutch far enough to let the motor come out. Put the tranny to motor bolts back in, and pull them together. I did manage that successfully. Typically I drop the tranny the old fashioned way, then it only takes 10 minutes to yank the block (if you have AC removed).

I just got my motor in on Tuesday. I had the same question and I ended up pulling both of them together. It helped when I put the two back in to have a 'more vertical' angle on the motor and tranny as to get around the brake system.
