OK, looking through the manual to see if I blew a fuse for my remotes not working, I seen that the same fuse controls the anti-theft, trip computer, etc.

OK, now I know my remotes aren't working, my blinking light for the anti-theft is NOT working, but my trip computer IS working.

How can that be?

Cruse, does your car has a factory installed alarm. IF that is the case try to repgrogram your remotes taking out the MALL PGM fuse and pressing one at a time the lock/unlock buttons for at least 7 seconds.
If that does not work and as you said the trip computer works then could be that the BCU(Body Control Unit) might be having problems.
IF that is the case then car should be scanned/examined by your technician

What I meant one at the time are the remotes...

I do have a mall pgm fuse. I'll try that today. I called my dealer and they seem to think it is the receiver in the car (since both remotes died on the same day). $200 part alone. This car is starting to aggrevate me.

thanks for your help.

Cruse on my 98 the receiver is behind the trip computer. I had to replace it and was not that expensive tought.
Try the trick and if it does not work there is a site http://www.worldparts.com where you can post your part request and many GM dealers nationwide will send you offers on the part. I know I got that receier a while back and did not cost 200 was cheaper and is really easy to install. But check the PGM Fuse trick first, is cheaper :)

OK, that trick didn't work. Guess it is, as I feared, the receiver.

thanks for your help, though.

if you gotta blow that kind of $$$. I would just have a nice DEI remote start or alarm. Of course, a DEI keyless entry unit is only $125 installed!

Poncho, does this DEI reomte system works seamlessly with other car systems?

Yes and no. It all depends on the quality of the installer. I myself have never had any problems with any car that I have installed one for. Did I mention that DEI is part of DEI/ACDelco??? They make factory keyless for all the new GM models. :iceslolan
