18X8.5 - 225/45-18
of couse there are differences between certain brands of wheels and tires

sweet just make sure the new tires have a good strong sidewall. If the tires are a bit oversized compared to the wheels since that will cause the sidewall to be pulled in and will compromise it a bit

265s are definitely not oversized on 9 1/2" rims. A friend of ours has that exact combination, and the tyres actually still slope inwards a bit from the rim to the tread - just not as much as the 245s

well from what i'm reading from tirerack the diameter of the wheel matters too...not sure why...you would think that only the width would
anyway according to tirerack for a 17 inch wheel with 9.5 whidth the recomendation is 275/40-17
but on an 18inch wheel with 9.5 width they recomend 245/40-18
are you sure your friend doesn't have 17in wheels?

I will let you know how it goes with the tyre thing. The only concern is that they may hit the shocks (although that's unlikely). Worst case scenario is that I may have to roll the guards.

well if it hits the suspension its just another excuse to get some high performance coilovers:biggrin:....those have ussually a much smaller diameter than stock
so lets see...penske, moton or some ohlins sound good;)...then you can go hunt GTRs

Spec - can sometimes be better to lip the guards rather than roll (less warping and paint flaking). Or just cut a few mm off all around the guard and paint over :)
