New project: RX-7 type-R wide body
GT-Alex

While i'm finishing my impreza, i started another ambitious project: aoshima RX-7 type-R with a hand-made wide body, inspired from the RE-amemiya gt-??? kit. The wheels are temporary since i'm waiting an order from HLJ.
It's my first complete body kit so i don't know how much time it will take to me !!
Here is what it looks like for now:

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698100_0281.jpg
New brakes scoops :iceslolan :

Let me know if i waste my time with this or if i must continue !

good for your first but Its my opinion i think your front fenders need a drop to the bottom

Looks real cool. Check out chrismcgee's widebody drop top RX7, his is still in progress but looks similar to yours and could be helpful. I say continue this project definetly.

Thanks for the comments guys!
toyotagt1 : i know but today i made some surgery and installed a spoiler from a jgtc skyline which follow the front fenders.
86 sr5 : thanks for the link, i think this one will look more like a matter of touring car with more square fenders.
Oh, and if anybody have an idea for the rear end of the car i'd appreciate because i really don't know wich way to go.
So if you see this thread, post a little feedback or idea please !

I would need to see the new front before I could suggest something in perticular for the back, but maybe something to do with the JGTC front end?

Ok jonno, here is the current status of the model: new spoiler fixed, side skirts beginned, first sanding done (i think i'll use a lot of sadpaper and putty !).

Thanks everyone, but you know, it's not much wider than the original, maybe 1.5mm each side.
And to follow the thread you'll have to be patient since i'm still working on the sub' and i make a party at home for new year, so i'll need all the available place !

As you may have seen, my sub is finished, so i went to work with this one.
The front of the car is almost finished (at least for the shape !!!) and i had an idea for the rear: how about molding the porsche carrera 4 spoiler on it ? So i cut the part (the spare one in the gt3 kit from tamiya) to keep only the air intakes and put it at the rear or the rx7. I'm noy sure it suits the jgtc front but their shape are similar to the turn signals, so...
Well, enough words, here are the pics :

Smooth! Love the front end - it reminds me of the Mazdaspeed version, but more aggresive. IMHO it needs a nice shiny intercooler behind it. I think mica blue would look nice, black might hide those sexy curves too much. If you want to go black, you could try Tamiyas Mettalic Black spray?

one question.. in the first pics those rims.. are they fujimi 18in kranz shoki?

Actually, that front end was used on the Amemiya RX-7 2000-2002 until 2003 when it switched to the Supra-like front end.
There is also a very similar front end on the #66 ORC with Revolution GT300 RX-7 which shows up every once in awhile in the JGTC

Hello modelers, it's time for an update. I progress so slowly that i wonder if i'll finish it one day !
BTW, i went for a non-race interior with a 2-tone color and BMF matt alu for the console.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698Photo_016.jpg
I also made the rims, AVS's model 5 with offset (wider at the rear), thanks to the how-to from GTI1800 !
The center is painted tamiya gold and the outer alcladII chrome : that paint is sooo shiny !
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698Photo_017.jpg
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/111698Photo_019.jpg
Now i have to finish the body for painting (i have to scribe the panel lines again, as the filler...filled them !)
I'm almost decided for the colour, candy orange from petzoldt's, maybe with some graphics.
As usuall, comments are welcome, as they motivate me for working :smokin:

You wanted more action ? Well here i am, and i had an original (i hope :p ) idea : displaying the model with the bumper removed, so the intercooler and the front end are well visible. something like RX7-king sig.
So i started to build the front end with all the ducts and I/C setup.

The fan will be visible trough the hood scoop, so i dad to represent someting decent. Still have to add the wires and the I/C pipes.
As usuall, sorry for the blurry pics

For those who still remember this thread, i didn't gave up ! After a long period of stand-by and pic research, i finally put it back to the bench. The body have been stripped in brake fluid (btw it's a radical method !). Now i can see the panel lines again.
As i didn't like the rear end, i started shaping an evolution of it, it'll be more squarish to suit the rest of the bodykit. I also opened some air intakes in the sideskirts to break the shoebox style.
