Hey I'm thinking about getting a 3000gt but I don't know I want a fast ass car - the thing I heard is even with pretty good tuning and stuff i'll be lucky if I dip into the 10s so I don't know - I was also thinkin about an awd tsi - which prob could run faster in 1/4 mile and could get near the 3000gt in hp - so what's tru ? how quick could that 3000gt get the 1/4 mile goin (of course not talkin about stock)? how much hp could I get out of it with decent money ? what's the better call if I want a fast ass 1/4 mile car ? let me know what u guys think

If you're looking to get into the 10s or better - don't get the VR4. Only a handful of cars have made the tens and it takes a good chunk of change to get there.

You can get to the 11s with a few grand but thats about the best most people can hope for. They are fast cars, can be made faster and look fantastic the whole time. But, if you're goal is to have the fastest quarter miler, you'll be better off getting something else.

i am a firm believer that VR-4s have just not been pushed as far as other cars and that is why we are still in the 10s but we could go a lot further...

that being said, get a mustang if you want to run quick 1/4 mile times. cheapest easeist most prooven way to do it. if you want to go with japonese cars, dsm is probably one of if not the best platform to do so. both are ugly imho though and i would not want to drive them around on the street over a 3kgt.

i think a lot of people do not realize how fast a 10 second car really is though or even an 11 second car. the best exotic cars around only run in that range (i believe the new enzo is like an 11.1 or something right?)

if you do not want a track only car but you want to be able to beat almost anything on the street, a VR-4 is a good choice, if you want to be king of the strip or set reckords buy a mustang, just realize that all of this is generally harder and more expensive than people expect as well. getting a car to run 9's is one thing, getting it to do it repetedly without replacing tons of parts is another all together.

If you're wanting to be king of your local drag strip get a V8.
If you're really wanting to race, then get a VR4. They are quite nice for driving on the tracks when they are modded being AWD and all.
