Your water pump is driven by the serp belt! Look at the top front of your engine right under the luittle plastic piece with the belt routing picture on it.

To tell you the truth, if you are not certain that water pump is the problem. IS better to get it inspected by someone that has a little more experince than you. Could be a split hose or leaky radiator.
Does the temp gauge is hotter than normal for an instance?

210 is not normal. 195 is normal. Check for leaks
If there are none then check the pumpo

I have to replace my friends water pump on her 94' Grand Prix V6 tommorrow. Does anyone have any advice at all? I have never really worked on her car, but know a lot about mechanics in general.
