215K...my engine gonna go bang soon!

Today I blew a head gasket on my D15b2 with 215K on it. It is smoking like a motha f*cker now. So its time for a new engine. I don't know why but I'm staying automatic. I'm just wondering what engine I should get with an auto ECU and tranny. My friend Tripp has an LS Motor with auto tranny, and ECU that he'll sell to me for $500. Is that what I should get? I can get the axles and new mounts for a couple hundred. IS that the way to go?

that seems like a good deal to me. you'll just need to figure out which axles you'll need and a mount kit.

make sure it is a pre 94 LS so it has a cable tranny...

Otherwise, it might be easier to find an Auto ZC or something....then all you'd need is an ECU.

Mines at 201k and still goin strong

The Ls motor is out of a 91 Integra that got rear ended. The D15b2 is a tough little engine I'll give it that. A guy named Tou tried to blow his on purpose when he got his B16 using a 55 shot of ZEX and it wouldn't give. It surprised the hell out of us! That one had 196K on it but was serviced all the time.

196 and it still rolls, but it catching a cold...

Replaced mine last month, had 260,000km's on it.

If the engine still runs, drain the coolant & oil. Then start her up & run it WOT(wide open throttle) see how long til she blows.

238K Miles and runnin' smooth and strong (for what little a d15b6 has)

sorry to hear that it went out....mine went out at 250k....but it ran strong till the end

my A6 has 200K on it...Smoking like a bitch but thats cause someone has a heavy foot....So heavy I walk with a limp....

damn thats alota miles, mine has 239k and i just need to get a new head gasket, but other than that she runs nice and smooth all the way to redline. it would have around 250K but shes been sittin in the driveway for a while cuz of suspension probs.

yeah becare....i thought i blew a head gasket...but once i got the head off i noticed i had to replace some valves....so check to be sure

check out this old DX motor i used to have, it had over 220K miles on it and i tried to purposely blow it at the track and it wouldnt blow, never smoked, nothing! I had tremdously fun time driving on it, it pushed 180PSI across the board before i pulled it. HAIL SOHC DX!
