Fuel or electrical

Hi, I've recently bought a 1993 Opel Astra which drives superbly other than an annoying habit of suddenly dying and either starting first flick of the key or not going for ages (turns over but doesn't fire). When it does go it may either continue or die again. I've never owned an Opel before, are they prone to a particular problem that this may be? It's the single point injection model, non carb.
On a different note, does anyone know of any online instructions on removing the radio? It refuses to come out using just the metal prongs, it seems to me that it might have to be a dashboard removal job!
Any advice on either of these would be hugely welcomed!
Cheers, Pete

Hi.
It looks like fuel problem.
Check fuel filter and replace if necessary.

HI
Had the same problem on my 95 180 IE turned out to be a dry joint on the fuel pump relay.
Maybe worth checking

Fuel pump relay is a common problem.
The next time it won't start either listen for the fuel pump or test the blue/red fuel pump feed wire for 12v.
