what is a resinator

what is a resinator? what performance enhancement does a resinator have? is it necessary?

I do beleive it's just the same thing as a resonator o_O either there are 2 ways of spelling or there are just many ppl that spell it wrong... or it really is some other thing

A resonator is the same thing as a muffler. It comes before the muffler and it helps decrease the sound coming out from the muffler.

yes its basically just an extra muffler, they are usually smaller then the main muffler. They aren't nessecary, the perfect exhaust setup I believe is mandrel bent piping coming from the header, without a catylytic converter, out to 1 straight through type muffler in the rear. This will give you the best flow and make the most HP but it will get louder.

actually the best exhaust would be a header dumped out the side.

there are also resonators on intakes.

i took off my resonator and put a muffler on......it is way too loud on my KA

my friends 93 passat vr6 had 2 resonators on it... they were both about 3 times the size of the muffler which was fairly large itself. needless to say with them out of the way the shit is nuts now

i live in canada all we got is cops on horses and i can out drive the horses

ok but if i were to get my car a new exaust..... could i use a resinator instead of a muffler or is that a bad idea
