what is a resinator

what is a resinator? what performance enhancement does a resinator have? is it necessary?

A resonator is a basically a chamber that muffles sound. It is bad for performance becase it restricts air movement. Typically, they are found in intakes and exhausts. Taking it out produces louder sounds and better performance. Good Question. :-D

In regards to necessity... that depends on where you live. Ive been with a friend who's gotten pulled over because his exhaust was "too loud." It was a name brand with papers saying it was CA db compliant. 95db isnt it? The cop said that those papers dont mean anything and that he was gonna be nice and let us go, but we might want to take it off cause next time we may not be so "lucky." Bastard... oh well, just be careful because they can pull you over and theres not really anything you can do. If your car is all tricked out then it will draw a lot more attention to you too... so yeah... watch out... :sly:

i live in b.c. canada and out here they dont really car too mmuch lol pretty easy going .

so i sould take mine off my car

honestly it depends on your area with how weird/anal some areas are with ANY mod to exhaust/emssions system *gratned they touch exhaust and emmisions are differnt things* it may effect but a res will not effect your smog readings at all it just adds some rasp to the car and helps de-rice the tone.

I run a 18" afterburner res on my 2 1/4 catback really deepened growl and no loss of power
