When backing up today I noticed in the reflection of the glass of the storefront that my third brake light was out. No problem I thought, just stop by pick up a bulb and pop it in. Boy was I wrong!! The rest of the afternoon was spent trying to find out why the damn thing woundn't work. Looked at all of the fuses, took off the spoiler traced the wires(the plastic pieces just feel apart @!#$#@) Still NOTHING!!! Any Idea what the hell is going on????

Mine stopped working too, I tried 3 different bulbs and several fuses as well, and nothin...I'd like to know what it could be too.

..maybe check the wiring that goes from the body to the hatch for any damage? that's a pretty vulnerable area...

no visable damage to the wires, I just don't understand I checked it just a week ago and it was very bright!!

1. wiring
2. socket
3. bulb
4. fuse
5. switch
There nothing else that would cause it not to work.
Well, maybe the brake light fluid is low. :cwm27:

check the socket for corrosion, if u have a meter check for power at the plug when the spoiler is off

ROFLMAO now ricers across the globe are going to be looking for their brake light fluid resevours and upgrade them to Integra resevours. :iceslolan

heh...now that's funny...brake light fluid...is that the same as headlight fluid or is the consistency different, or ph or something...come on someone must know ;)

Good question...I'd be curious about that myself.

I dont know you problem exactly but for me on my 4dr. Some water leaked into the light socket and it burnt out at the socket.
I dunno
Maybe that will help but not sure.

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that both your avatar and your signature are women...leave the chick in your signature and just change your avatar...I like "jiggly" in your sig...I'm looking for one of my own...hard to find though...

did anyone figure out why the 3rd light is out? Mine's out but for a while it would just always be one and go off when pressing the brake - it was switched. Now it's just off

BAAH! damn newbie....here it is once and for all, i dont wanna have to retype this, so write it down.
Taillight fluid and Blinker Fluid ARE two different fluids, however they CAN be interchanged (note: to put it simple, for some reason, blinker fluid acts as a better taillight fluid than taillight fluid being used as blinker fluid....dont ask why...) and ALWAYS use blinker fluid instead of headlight fluid in the headlights......headlight fluid is shit... if you've already screwed up and purchased headlight fluid, dont fret, it DOES make a great lube to pack the muffler bearings with.
oh one more thing, ALWAYS use a fresh 25/75 mix of Headlight fluid and blinker fluid for when you decide to change your intake plugs....
If you need a Tutorial on changing your intake plugs, just IM me.

can i get the tutorial on changing my fuel plug? there was a package of sugar (it was a rice/sugar/mexican salad mixture) and it told me on the back that if i dump it into my gas tank that it will unplug my fuel line and give me an extra 55 mpg and 200 HP on STOCK INTERNALS - omG NATURAL NAWWWWWSSSSSSSSS!
oh yes, i can't wait to get body work done on my car, water always seems to find its way into my taillights, so the sockets always rust out...meh - spent a while replacing the wiring harness and bulbs, etc. Can't wait to get rid of the rust, but its gonna cost a pretty penny :)

FIXED IT!
Broken wires where the hatch opens and the wires on the passenger side go up from the frame into the hatch. From there the wires go to both sides of the rear window defrost, rear window wiper, and the third brake light. So right where the wires come out, they are exposed but encased in a plastic black housing. The black rubber cover did not have any damage so I never really suspected it but took the gamble to cut it away. The actual wires within had damage, one ground was broken completely while two colored wires had wires exposed and touched - the opening and closing of the hatch must have pinched the wires together and eventually worn away the plastic coating. Then the defrost line and third brake light line touched together so my defrost button would cause the third brake light to go on and hitting the brakes caused the light to go off.
Wrapping some tape around the exposed wires and soldering the broken ground back together did the trick. Everythings working and I'll just have to keep an eye on if the hatch closing will again pinch the wires.
