yup newbie here, lets start with i am a ase cert.master tech. with 26 years dealer exp. 95% toyota.

here's the deal, we're going low bucks here but i want it to be right. i've got a good friend that has a 93 prelude si 5 speed and spun a main bearing and the block is junk. he had some hack take the motor apart and parts have been sitting in the weather and a lot of the good stuff is now junk too.

anyway,i have got a single cam 2.2 out of a 96 prelude and a 92 accord with a 2.2 as a doner car.

now i know from reading here in the forums that a lot of people have been swaping the other way so i figure there must be a large amount of parts gathering dust that could help me do the swap.

it LOOKS like the exhaust manifold from the si will bolt to the 2.2 but i'm not sure at this point i just started laying out everything on the floor to see what is good and what goes into the junk pile. looks like a lot of the sensors have been dammaged one way or another. and i'm glad to have the doner.

if anyone can give me a little info and let me know if they have any parts that i will need would be a great help.

thank you

where did the 96 prelude that you got the motor from go? I would use as many of the parts from it as you could as opposed to the accord

(btw... didn't know 96 ludes had a sohc 2.2 as an option?)

well come to find out the exhaust and intake manifolds bolt right up and so does everything else. No parts needed to make this swap. now off to the junk yard to replace all the missing hardware :(

glad i found this site it kicks ass!

yeah I read that there was in fact a sohc engine in some preludes

glad the swap is going well

If the engine came out of a 96 Prelude and it's 2.2 Liters then it's an H22 DOHC VTEC, not a SOHC. Maybe he meant to say 2.3??? Unless there's some mystery motor out there that I'm not aware of. :)

well if all else fails look at the number on the block.

here's what i got F22A1
9333935

all i know at this point is that everything from the twin cam motor bolts right up to this thing.

let me know if anyone out there can tell me what year this thing is.

F22A was an accord engine that was also found in the "S" trim Preludes. It is a SOHC non-vtec motor.

Ahhhh....I see says the blind man! :smokin: Guess you learn something new every day, I didn't know that the single cam Prelude motor was 2.2 Liters also.

well here is the latest on the swap, just got back from my trip and should have it fired up today. the only things to this point that need to be changed is there is no location for the knock sensor on the 22. so what i did was locate it in the hole where the oil pressure switch is just below the deck and then install the oil switch in the plug/fitting below the oil cooler where it is located on the 23. and the other change is to lengthen the wire harness to the ignition coil and thats about it.

i will post as soon as i get it fired up and let you know how she flies.
