I am getting tired of cops. I have been pulled over so many times. I have been pulled over for 104 in a 65; 87 in 70; and just recently pulled over for going 84 in a 65. I also was pulled over for drag racing when I wasn't even racing a guy. If anybody has any problems like this or knows how to talk to cops to get out of the tickets please help. Even though recently I have been only going 7 over, cops still look at me. And the thing is I have a '94 Saturn SC-2. It isn't like the car is fast. So reply and explain your tickets.

let me get this straight.... your wondering why you got pulled over, when you were going down a PUBLIC road, going over 35mph over the legal limit in come cases.....

if you can't understand the reason why...

you deserve to get the tickets.

Well, the only way you get get out of this is SLOW DOWN!!!
You shouldn't be wondering why you get pulled over for going over the speed limit, because thats the LAW! the rules in the game of life. Once you break the rules, you get punished.
In California, if you are caught going over 100mph, the cop have the right to take you straight to jail.
that is 2 points on your driving record and license suspended for 30 days.

I have an idea... Call the state and tell them you want to cancel your drivers license. If you are going to drive fast constantly, you are going to get pulled over. There is no way in hell you can avoid the fuzz non stop.

That is still speeding. The cop cant exactly pull over more than one vehicle at a time, so you were the lucky one. :iceslolan

It's one thing to get a ticket for going 35 over in a 65 but was it necessary to give me a ticket for going 65 in a 55 on a country road in the middle of no where with no cars or houses in sight at 3 in the after noon driving my moms van??? Come on, aren't there bigger problems out there.

He probably gave you a ticket because you were in a van. Actually he probably gave you a ticket because you were on a counrty road, meaning you were the only car, so he was bored and needed to harras someone.

if it was at 3 in the morning, then he probably pulled you over just to see if you have been drinking. but when he found out you werent drinking, please tell me you werent, then he thought, hmmm, i have to get him for something, so he gave you a speeding ticket.

you guys that are calling viper an idiot should be ashamed, tell me that you guys never have gone fast. if you havent, then people like you should all have a pinto.

I've had one ticket for going 71 in a 55. The cop said he was going to be nice and write it for 70.......WOW. If he was going to be nice, he woulda just gave me a warning and told me to slow down. This was my first pullover/ticket ever. OH well, I went to court and got it knocked down to a parking ticket, no harm no foul.

Okay, hee's a small tip. If you're in California, and you get a ticket from a cop who was using radar, go home, call the public works dept. for the city or county depending on whether you were in or out of city limits, ask if a road survey has been done on the road you were on (you may need to specify a block such as the 2700 block of Elm Avenue). If there was NOT a survey done in the last 5 years, they cannot use radar on that road. I swear this works. I have beat two speeding tickets this way. A neighbor of mine that is a cop told me about this. Try it. Obviously this does not work for freeways, they are posted that radar is used.

I have a question for beating two speeding tickets in Marietta, GA. The first ticket was almost a month ago and I clocked at going 64 in a 45 mph zone on Shallowford Rd. This was at about 9 p.m. and the traffic was very light. I wasn't looking at the speedomtor but I didn't think I was going that fast. The part of the road I was on was mostly straightaways but I didn't see the cop because it was so dark. When I got pulled over, I asked the cop how much the fine was and he said he didn't know. I also asked when the court date was going to be and he said he didn't but told me to call a phone number in three days.

Earlier today, I was going down I-75 Southbound around two o'clock in the afternoon. Traffic was moderate, not bumper-to-bumper traffic like Atlanta is famous for, but enough that there was several cars around me. The way I-75 is set up is that the median that supports I-75 North and South is merely grass that's been planted there and therefore police can easily set up speedtraps. Right before Barrett Parkway, I spot a police car in middle of the median. I think it may have been a little more on the other side but I'm not sure. I knew I was speeding but I didn't know much so I immediately started slowing down. Within a few seconds, the officer started to drive and I knew I got caught. After I was pulled over, the officer said that I was going 97 in a 65 mph zone. I hadn't been looking at my speedomoter just prior to being pulled over but I didn't think I was going quite that fast. Like I said, the traffic was moderate and I was just moving with the traffic. I wasn't barreling down on anyone so I didn't give much thought to checking my speed. After I signed the ticket, this officer told me to call a phone number in ten days.

Now, I might add that both tickets were issued in Cobb County, if that helps any.

I don't want my insurance rates go up so what can I do to prevent it from doing so?

I've heard of something called road surveys, traffic surveys that have to be done within 5 years of when the ticket was issued or else the ticket is invalid or something like that. Does anyone know anything about this? Does Georgia have something like this? Also, does it apply to highways like I-75?

What are my other options? I've heard of pre-paid legal services but I don't know anything about them.

no offense, but it sounds like you need to start paying more attention to your driving. whenever I see a cop on the road, the very first thing I do is look at my speed..... you should make that a force of habit.

You need to check the court date for the first Georgia speeding ticket immediately. If it is already past then you have the fine for the speeding ticket along with a fine for failure to appear. Pretty soon they will issue a warrant for your arrest and suspend your license.

If you missed your court appearance then you can only pay whatever fines that have been levied by the court. If the date is not past then you need to show up on your court date and try to negotiate for a 14mph over ticket. Georgia does not record these on your record.

For the 97 in a 65 speeding ticket you have a real problem. Cobb County Georgia traffic courts are not friendly places and even an attorney will have a hard time with this one. You best bet is to enter a "Nolo" plea since I believe this is a six point ticket. You can do this once every five years in GA and the points will not be assessed but it will be on your record for the insurance company.

With the problems you currently have joining Pre-Paid Legal would be a good idea. It is like insurance so they will charge you if you want help with the existing tickets. After that there is no additional charge for moving violations and you can talk directly to an attorney and not have to post on a discussion board. Here is the link

Pre-paid Legal (www.prepaidlegal.com/info/carolynpatterson)

You can join online by clicking on option 3.

I am familar with Atlanta traffic and everybody speeds except when it turns into a parking lot. Keep it to 10 over and they will usually not cite you because they have much better pickings. Good luck and start saving for your insurance premiums.

What's a "Nolo" plea? I don't know anything about traffic law or insurance. My dad takes care of the insurance for me. What do you mean, it will not be assessed but will still be on my record?

With a Nolo plea the DMV will post the ticket to your record for the insurance company to raise your rates. Your Dad will not be happy when renewal time comes.

They will not assess any drivers license points.

"I don't know anything about traffic law or insurance."

Then park the car until you do. Start with the Driver's Handbook.
