Power seat drivers side not moving down...

conundrum

Hello everyone this is my first post to this forum although I have owned my 1997 Olds Aurora since 10/2002. I really like this car, I basically bought it for a song (that is, very cheap) and to me it is every bit as luxurious and fun to drive (if not more so) as the car that owned previous to the Aurora, a 1995 Jaguar VJ8. I have performed all of the maintenance/repair work to it myself and there has been quite a bit of work to perform. I don't have a copy of the factory manual however (but I am getting one in January; I found one for $75 online). Recently I have had a problem with my power seats; the front portion of the driver’s side seat refuses to go down. The power seat works in all of the other 7 directions (back rest- back and forward, seat itself- back and forward, back of seat- up and down, and front of seat- up, all work). Also the heated seat option does not work on the drivers side (it lights up but I feel no heat) and the memory option doesn't work for the seat or the mirror (again, it lights up but no action). Can someone please tell me where to start, I am most concerned with the driver seat not moving down because I am a relatively tall guy (6'3") and the seat in that position puts me way too high up.

Thanks

I have exactly the same problem with the driver seat. I haven't bothered bringing it in yet, as I am a relatively shorter driver than yourself.

As for your seat warmers, check out the heating control module (the little black box with wires sticking in and out of it. That's what mine turned out to be.

Hmm, I'm wondering if while changing the heated seat module they might have caused the power seat to break.

My back rest portion of the seat doesn't move with the door closed but if I open the door it works.
I'm guessing its a wire running from the door to the chassis ....haven't had a chance to look at it. maybe in warmer weather lol
