Ok. I recently just got onto this site so sorry for bringing up old news, but i wanted to know all the real reasons the camaro and firebird got dropped. I guess I just was curious. I never got to read any articles or anything on why. I mean gm isn't dumb i'm sure they had good reason (or maybe not) i guess I just want to know why they got rid of 2 awesome vehicles.

No advertising of the line, and the current platform didn't meet the new safety standards...

The old law of supply and demand......they werent selling anymore. People would rather save money on little 4cyls and spend thousand and thousands hopping them up

I belive the main reason of the dissapearence (besides what BLK said..) was because GM made more V8's then V6's. The V6 outsold the V8 (thats obvious), so GM was loosing money. Also another factor was that the F-Bodies were selling more to the middle age men. BTW i've only seen 2 F-Body commericals. Ever. (one where it shows a black ss out at night and another one where a WS6 "eats" a lamborghini)

I agree with J ROd Iroc-Z. People rather buy those DAM foriegn cars with their pussy 4 bangers, decking them out making them ALL SHOW but Camaro will always be ALL GO

Don't forget the commercial where the two kids were guessing the cars outside of their window just by the sound of the engines. Then the red Z28 pulls up, and one of them can't guess the color :)

I haven't seen that commercial but it sounds cool. The only f body commercial I remember is from the mid 90's. It was for a black trans am and it wasn't even a cool commercial it just showed the car at a stop light at night or something. I barley remember it though

98, that was the one im talking about. It was for the 98 WS6. It shows a lamborghini at a redlight and then the WS6 pulls behind it. Then all it shows is the redlight but you can hear metal getting crushed in the background then it shows the cars. All thats left is the WS6, and it looks like it is smiling.

I remember very little ads for the F-Bodies (I vaguely remember the Lambo one). The one I can't forget was the original early 90's one where they said the Z28 had a cup holder big enough to fit a squishy, eh?

I didn't remember a lambo bieing in that commercial. I'm gonna see if i can't find that commercial somehwere on the internet. I dont think i've seen the cup holder one dvs is talking about.

Also I was looking into buy this car:

But there seems something fishy about it. I guess its the miles on it. Tell me what you guys think.

By the way, if you're interested 98GPGT we all did this discussion back in Aug. The thread was called "Why the Camaro was killed?". I'm too lazy/tired to post a link but its on page 16 in this forum. It you're interested...

p.s. - just don't revive it.

Oh yeah right...the cavalier z34 is nothing but a big piece of sh*t...I beat one in my 2.5l chrysler labaron turbo. What was the 3.8 you beat with the cav in?

98GPGT
12-18-2003, 04:07 AM
My room mate is form davenport. he's going back next week mabye i'll come and check it out.

98GPGT
12-18-2003, 04:12 AM
That cav is only 150 hp with 150 f/lb torque.
I have 200 hp 225 lb/ft torque.
The weight difference isn't big enough for me to lose to a cav.

Hows the iroc compare to most 5.0 mustangs?

boots03
12-18-2003, 04:15 AM
lol,, my cavalier wasnt stock, it had the 3.1 turbo from the TGP of 1990 vintage, that and a b16 turbo and blitz front mount help it out alot, the 3.8 was in a camro, and it was in an automatic.

boots03
12-18-2003, 04:17 AM
the IROC does good, its beat most of them i have ran against, the only time i have lost to one is when a lifter broke, and the pushrod went threw the lifter, but all of that has been fixed.

98GPGT
12-18-2003, 04:20 AM
You still have that cavalier? I might drive up and check out the iroc maybe we can run em. Also 3.8L in a camaro sux. Heavy rwd axel to much for that v6. My best victory was against a stang gt 4.6.

ya, that sounds like a plan, i still have it, but its in pieces now, i wrecked it back in april, and sold the engine,( :banghead: ) and now it has a stock 3.1 in it, buut i am going to pull the frame on it this spring with the money i get out of the iroc and reserect it for a thrid time(the frist time was do to fried headgaskets) but ya, if you like it and want it, i wouldnt mind selling it about 2700(with the tranny fixed) if ya want to know more about it email me at [email protected], or just im me at boots03 on aim, i am heading to bed, lol, the "wife" is calling. night man
