I wanted to swap an L67 into my gt. I was curious if anyone knew what all i would need to swap. I've heard alot of things. I plan on getting the dhp pcm for gtp once i do the swap so thats taken care of. Also How loud it the supercharger sound on gtps. Ihaven't paid attention. Should I be able to make people think its still a gt just with my current emblems. Also whats the best quarter times I can expect with $2k to play with?

You'd have to get a GTP DHP PCM..because you can't run an L67 with your GT (L36) PCM.

[email protected] <-- He's one of the guys that will come to your house and help you do the swap for a small fee (not sure what the fee is).

1/4 mile times vary depending on the car, and what you do to the motor before you put it in.

I wanna do rocker arms and cam for sure. I'm not sure on pulley size probabally switch to F-1 style ram air hood also. I dunno about the rest. I mean its all gonna depend on how cheap i cn get the motor for.

Also I was curious if anyone knew if the new series 3 supercharged will swap in. I know nothing about it except it gets 260 hp. Did they just toss on a smaller puller and call it a new engine?

The guy is located in Appleton, WI. He has a buddy in Milwaukee that helps him with the swaps.

The fuel pump is different, but you don't have to worry about it unless you want to run high amounts of boost. The trans will have to be dealt with though. You can buy a conversion kit for $800, but you can probably get a whole HD trans for around that price.

If you are going to do a cam, I suggest not doing rocker arms as the valve lift will be too high for the stock heads. You will then have to have headwork done. And I hope the hood isn't part of your 2k, because the hood is 1k by itself. As for pulley size, again it depends on what you do to your car.

I wouldn't go for the SIII S/C. www.zzperformance.com is supposed to have some new modded M90 coming out soon that is supposed to be way better than any stock S/C out there.

And as for the SIII motor, it is a combination of many things, including a slightly smaller pulley if I remember correctly.

I think I can handle the swap. A friend of mine put a l67 in a grand am gt for a guy so i think between us we can pull it. Yeah I know how much the hood costs and I consider that outside of the 2k. I mean 2 k for the motor sutff. I'm gonna just try to find a wrcked gtp and pull the tranny, motor, and fuel pump, maybe even the pcm so I have something until i get the dhp pcm. I've been to zz performance before and looked into the cfsc before but decided that my motor has enough miles on it already, but i didn't know they were modding a knew eaton. I'm looking to get into the mid 12's by the time I'm done. I'm looking for alot of torque and low end acceleration then worry about top end later. What do you think I should do? I mean you seem to know more than me about this whole project. I already have the basicis: cold air, high flow cat, and borla exhaust. (thought about swapping in loud mouth found good deal on it). What do you think it will take to acheive the numbers i want and still have a daily driver?

Usually the SC does not make extreme sounds. In my case after they moded it I Can tell you that after 2750 rpms the only thing you hear(car has OEM exhaust) is a mild whistle. So if you race with windows up and the other guy to no one would tell you have a l67 on your car.
Rom, have you started your migration project already?

12s are hard to hit. It takes a lot of tuning, or an Intercooler to hit 12s. :eek7: If you want torque, then you should stay with the GT 3.29 gears, or go one better and install 3.69 gears. You'll also NEED an LSD or ATB differential if you're going to stay with the GT tranny. If you want torque, then you will def. want a cam and headers. With that cam, you'll need to install CompCams high-load valve springs. Which ones you install depends on how radical you want to get with the cam. You'll want to have some machining done on your heads, SC, and lower intake. You'll want to upgrade your TB to the LS1 package that ZZP sells so your engine can breathe better. You'll want to get an aftermarket CAI or FWI. The last thing you'll want to have done is have your motor and PCM dyno-tuned by the guys at DHP ( http://www.digitalhorsepowerinc.com ).

That's kind of a generic run-down. I have a list made of what the killer NON-IC'd engine configuration would be. But it's on my PC at home....and I'm at school in class right now. :evillol:

And Kilroypr..I have not started my project yet. I'm still paying off some X-mas stuff, and working on my 90 Turbo at the moment. I will be starting the L67 project towards the eend of next month...depending on wether or not I can keep myself from buying the 55" Toshiba HDTV I'm looking at. :naughty:

Easier if you stick with your engine and just get a CSC kit....you'll be faster then alot of GTPs with this setup

55" that is expensive

55" HDTV is expensive. That will be great for the Rose Boul and stuff like that ... :) Enjoy

Rom, Somebody told me that there is a way to compute the transaxle effective gear ratio based on the tire hight and installed gear ratio. Do you know anything about this? Or where I can find that. I checked on auto.howstuffworks.com with no luck

I would like to get a csc but its $4k. I don't want to pay that much when I can probabally buy an L67 swap and mod it to be faster for the same 4k.

GPGT, what is important for the 4k swap is on what condition it is on. There is a website, http://www.worldparts.com where you can request based on your VIN number quotes for the parts that you need. These parts have OEM waranty and have good prices. A reman transaxle could be around 1200, reman sc around 1000 and reman engine around 1800. All these parts have OEM waranty and depending on who do the mods they will not loose them. Just a tought.

The more I look into it the more I think I'm just gonna take this care and make it all show and no go. Put the f-1 hood and gpx fender flares on it. SLP loud mouth. I already have a $1500 stereo system in it. I think I'll get the led spolier (not like the ricer ones more low profile). And I'll get a new paint job. I'm gonna do something with a pontiac performance wise though. I'm looking for a 68 or 69 GTO, a mid 70's trans am, or a mid 80's grand prix. Its to expensive for me to build up my daily driver like I want to. I know a gto is gonna cost alot just to buy but i'm willing to take out a loan to get another vehicle but not willing to take out a loan to build up my daily driver. You know what I mean? I dunno what i'll do exactly thanks for the help though.

Well, in my case this GTP is my daily driver, but, because it is my daily driver I took it to a dealer shop so they would install all the parts I got(I was lucky a customer paid 15k he owed) and mod it for me with waranty.
It is wise for you if you do not have big cash amounts to spill to get another car(I love the 69 GTO, I have a 69 Chevelle 396CID, Munci Trans and 444 PosiTraction) to play with.
You are wise not to mess with the Daily Driver.

I drove a chevelle once god its so sweet ass. It was an SS with a 454 4speed of course. Driving a car like that is so much different than driving any new car. I keep looking a different vehicles to do. Definetly GM no matter what i choose. I've broadened my horizons to inlcude camaros, buick gsx, or whatever else gm that has potential. I'm just keep saving cash and keep my eyes open.
