That SRT-4 got owned. Looks like the second race would have been real ugly if it hadn't been for traffic. Still those SRT-4's are impressive. If he would have raced that LS1 from a roll it would be real ugly, primarily due to the stall converter. I kinda miss the sound of a BOV :(

That's not really a fair race...especially considering the LS1's mods. Although if this is the same SRT-4 owner from the SRT forums I think it is, then he probably talked the LS1's owner's ear off about how bad his Neon would walk him. He got just what he deserved and it has been preserved eternally on film for all to see. ;)

It's Too Bad That An Ls1 Had To Race An Unprepared Srt-4 Owner Who Probably Should Have Kept His Mouth Shut Also. I Know That If I Ask A Vette Or Ls1 Camaro To Race, It Is Going To Be Good. I Have A 03 Srt-4 Highly Modified To Over 300hp With A Limited Slip. 12.05 @121.6 Mph. Not Too Bad For A Car Half Of The Price Of The Camaro And Much Better Power To Weight Ratio, But Still Hard To Beat Some Vipers And Vettes.
If You Own A Stock Srt-4, Do Not Race Until You Know That You Will Not Be Owned. Use The Elementof Surprise

300hp is not highly modded. Srt = 20k+, correct? Same price as a NEW LS1 was...But now just about double what you can get a used one for. Oh my goodness, WOW. It's people like you who make me just WISH I would have kept my car how it was for just a few more months. When I was prowling, the srt was barely at the dealerships. It would have made me glow like nothing else to destroy simpletons like yourself left and right day in and day out.

Um, The SRT-4 goes about 20k. You can get a used LS1 Camaro for about 15k, they went for around 30k new.
According to Edmunds:
The 2003 SRT-4 weighs in a 2939lbs, with 220hp that gives it a power to weight ratio of 13.35:1.
Compare that to the 11.1:1 power to weight ratio of a 2002 Z28 with only 310hp weighing 3439lbs.
According to my math skillz. The Camaro has the better power to weight ratio in stock form.

And, to Self's statement I'd like to add this comment;
How the FUCK is a loud Neon with a two story tall wing, fmic, hoodscoop you could suck a condor through, and gummy Michelin tires swiped off the front end of a Viper supposed to surprise anyone?

Too Bad About Your Attitude. I Am Testing Right Now With A Local Performance Sponsor To Add Another 95 Hp, Which According To My Current Ratio, Will Mean 11.5-11.8's. And No, The Ls1's Are Well Over 30k And Mine Was 18k. I Have Sold Them For 3 Years. I Am In Testing Right Now With It. So I'm Quite Sure That You Are A Pro-street Authority Right??? It's Attitudes Like Your Bro, That Spoil Our Sport. Just Trying To Say That A Stock Srt Will Not Compete With A Stock Ls1 Even. Try Not To Be Such A Jackass. Thanks.

Hey buddy, the LS1 Camaro was last produced in 2002. Thus they're all used vehicles now. When they were last sold, the 2002 Z28 was listed at $28,000 base.
It's now 2004, you can get 1998 LS1 cars for about $15,000 if you look around long enough. In stock form, yeah they'd rip you a new one if the driver knew what they were doing.
And please stop capitalising each word... makes for a hard to read posts.

Do you realize you're a ninny?
Come on. Let's be reasonable. The LS1 has been around in Vettes since 1997 and in F-Bodies since 1998.
I just priced a 1998 Camaro Z28 with the six speed manual in average condition through Kelley Blue Book. Guess what, market value is only $8,170. So, figure 10K will get you out the door on a used LS1 Camaro. A 1997 Corvette is 17K according to Kelley, so figure 20K will get you out the door on an LS1 Corvette.
Now, I'll never deny that the SRT-4 is the baddest little front-driver to walk the planet since we said goodbye to its GLH Omni forefather in 1987, but considering how cheap it is to pick up a Camaro, or even Corvette, the SRT-4 "bargain" really starts to fade.

I agree with everyone else LS1's can be had for fairly descent prices you don't have to deal with the sales tax BS either where as you would with a dealer if buying from a private owner. I believe after tax and registration the SRT comes out to about 24,000-26,000.

You sho bout dat?
I thought base Z28s sold for $24k. I remember seeing a new SS being sold for $27k. No options though. Trans Ams on the other hand were $28k+.
Also, The dealership I got my SS was selling their convertible 35th Anns for $29k, thats cheap. I miss that car but I like my Stang better for daily driving and its cheaper to maintain/insure. :)

Ahh my former 2000 Z28 didn't cost me $30K. I talked the guy down to a $21.5K for the car. Of course after sales, tax, and licensing it went up to about $27K (Atleast as I remember it). The SS's were expensive, not the base Z28. Neon's are quick, but I don't consider them as the ideal drag car (FWD). They can be modded to be as quick or quicker then an LS1 that is stock, but once you start modding that LS1 you can see some seriously sick times (Go to Gail Banks website and read about his 1000 whp+ LS1's). I might try to race one of my brother's friends SRT-4's. The guy says he beats STi's from a roll. We'll see how he does from a dig if I can get a chance to race him with the EVO.

Hmm, I could be quoting the Camaro SS prices then...
It has been 2 years since I last saw the Camaro on the Chevy website so I wouldn't be suprised if I was wrong.

Are you looking at the dales price, or the invoice price redneck? If you go to AAA you can find out the invoice price on most new cars. Maybe the Z28's base price went up in 2001 and 2002. I dunno.

Was the Newbie Neon owner that saddened that one of his cars got beat that he needed to make a point his was faster than a stock LS1?
