Ok. Slow progress, but it's happening. I finally got to polish the paint, though I was impatient and it didn't come out perfect. It's good enough for me. This model is turning into a lot of comprimises... I don't quite have the dedication to it I had to my S2000, but it is a fun model to put together.

After polishing, decals. Studio 27 decals are THICK! I was astounded. They went on ok, but were more a headache than say, Tamiya decals. It took a lot of decal set, hair dryer, and proddig into place. I wish I had decal solvent this time around. The Bridgestone decals and others are from my spares box. I don't really like them after all, but oh well too late. This thing will get done eventually. Feedback welcome, encouraged!!!

Yeah, the back looks plain jane, but remember it will have a big spoiler on it, and I'm'a gonna stick a Bridgestone decal on it to break up the rear.

Astounding! Willimo I've got that issue of Sport Compact, you've captured that whole drift/monster aura with this model! Man that engine is clean and superbly detailed. Like the others, I am impresed with the intercooler and it's plumbing. I remember seeing the mag picture of the Rx-7's fuel pumps/cooler/surge tank in the back...you've re-created that beautifully too! Awesome work and a great subject.

So I worked on the hood. All went well until I added the SMS carbon fiber decal. After clearing the hood, the decal got splotchy, with broad light areas and dark spots. I remember it happening to my snowboard, but its gone now, either because it's covered by stuff or because it cleared up. Did anyone ever have any problems like this? Does it clear up, or do I need to start over with the decals? Here is what it looks like, sort of. The shine and the resolution don't show the spots. I've never had this problem before, that's why I'm stumped about this. Any help?

:dunno: That sucks though. I would try to remove it if possible. I tried to "correct" one of my cars by laying down more CF decal, and that didn't help. The light and dark colors still showed through.

Almost more progress. Gonna get back on this one after I finish my poseur Civic. Weee!

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/75086RX-7Cusco20.jpg

Did some work on the Cusco girl, who will be at the car's booth at SEMA handing out literature. I scrapped the idea to make my own deep dish rims - they plastic that I laminated around the wheels didn't follow the wheel and there were gaps. Unnacceptable, so I used Pegasus 18" sleeves. Looks good, but I really wanted different offset on front and back. Oh well, I just want to get this damn thing done.

Edit - She's got eyes for the little men working on Kurtl's Capri, by the way.

you are being too critical of yourself you know. The engine work is SICK. everything else is SICK. great work so far, be proud!!

I wish I had decal solvent this time around.

When I run out of decal softener I use window cleaner in a pinch. I've tried it a couple times with no problems. Just test a tiny spare piece of decal from the sheet to make sure it doesn't bleed the printing, though I've never had that problem.
