Congrats! Now you dont have to worry about all the fucking newbies talking shit about you (the mod) not owning one!
Give it about a year and you will be moving to bigger and better things (an rx-7) like the rest of the 240 guys!

actually, there's an '87 TII for sale not too far from me that i was considering. the original engine was blown, so the new owner took the liberty of installing an S5 J-Spec 13B into the car, and only wants $2300 CDN for it. if a) i weren't such a 240 freak and b) had that much money, i would've bought that instead, cause that's a good frickin' deal for a car that could easily run with 350Z's.

Second from what I understand and just because he's a mod for the 240sx forum doesn't mean he has to drive one...It helps in terms of information he can offer, but his main job is to keep this forum orderly...not give everyone specs and shit.
I can't wait for my 240  ...less than 2 months away...I've got my eye on 2 right now...both S14s...once the snow clears and my bills are gone (this thursday I pay my current car off finally) a 240 will be mine.

congrats brian, feels good to finally own a 240sx eh. After searching 4 months for mine, I was damn happy. You got the pig-nose one too, IMHO those look better than the 91-94 versions.
and dayna an rx-7?? Who would want to go through the trouble of maintaining and repairing a mazda car every other week just to drive it for a couple of blocks before it breaks down again? :eek7:  :screwy:

I'd get a FD even though they have less reliability than the FC. Single turbo conversion and a larger intercooler and some other mods and it should last at least a few months before a rebuild LMAO.... j/p. They do look good, but it's mazda quality fit and finish which is definitely not as good as nissan quality. If I can't find a 240sx then I'll "settle" for a 3rd gen and see if I like them much...if I can find an S14 then I'll never look towards mazda. For a few thousand more you can get a JZA80...which is way better in terms of looks, performance (straight line), ease of tuning, and most of all...maintenance...
I have to disagree.

I like the hognose better, but both are really nice looking :iceslolan

I don't think I ever said I didn't...this is what I've read so obviously you do have more experience with actually owning and tuning RX7s...but I don't think you've even driven an FD...so you can't really compare the two either.
And judging by how many people replace the engines on an RX7 I would say it may be a bit more than just poor maintenance on them all. I agree an N/A rotary can last for many miles, but a turbo rotary needs lots of care and even then I don't think it can last as long as a turbo piston engine.
If you are comparing an mkIV supra and 3rd gen rx7 for street use and commuting then I would definitely pick the supra...higher cost to get one, but they are a lot lower maintenance...I've checked out a huge amount of both and the majority of rx7s have replaced engines or rebuilt engines while a supra (usually with much higher miles to boot) hasn't had a rebuilt engine and I don't think I have ever even seen one with a replaced engine unless they did a jspec TT/ usdm TT swap in a previously N/A car...
