91 rs issues aaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!

ok someone please help I have a 91 rs with the tbi 305 . it ran beautifully until last week when it decided to just shut off. now it starts when it wants and when it does start it runs for about 20min. and shuts off. I also noticed when you crank it the injectors don;t put out any fuel and when they do that is when it starts. I have replaced the fuel filter and the AIC valve the tank is venting and the fuel pump is working as well any help at all would be wonderful thanks in advance

I had the same problem a while back, I had to replace the injectors.

Actualy, I ran my camaro for almost a year with a faulty oil pressure sending unit witch read 0psi and I had no trouble what so ever starting my car, hell she ran like a dream. So as far as the oil pressure being the problem I would have to disagree.

That's exactly what I was doing. So once again you are stepping on my feet. I'm starting to get the impression that you have no idea what your talking about. Do you even own a camaro? If so, do you do any work on it yourself? I've been elbow deep in third gen camaro grease for the better part of 7 years now, if you have a suggestion make it, but don't knock someone profesional experiance unless you have some of your own to back it up. And as for the pic of my car, get over it, it's faster than yours and it's probably in better condition too. Ever hear the expresion don't hate me because I'm beautifull?

I disagreed with you, I didn't try to discredit you. I've been working on third gens for 7 years, not this paticular one. I've only had this car for 4 years. Withen two months I had 350hp. Took a little while to figure out the other 50, but I did it all with out nitrous or turbos or any forced air. And if you sold a camaro because it was to girlish, I think you need to step your way out of the camaro forum. Why don't you go and take your shit talking to the civic boards, you run your mouth about as fast as one turns it's engine.

You ever seen a 92 z-28 purple hayes with a 4 inch cowl hood 5% tint all the way around with "purple people eater" on the back window? I have. I got skerd. LOL But hey, it was a stock color. LOL

now as far as your problem mikemech, fuel injectors were a place to start, also, do like i tell EVERYONE on here, run the car for codes. take a paperclip and plug it into the top two right hand terminals in your diagnostic port. then watch your check engine light. (have a pen and paper ready) and start counting flashes. it will flash each code three times. first will be a code 12. it will flash once, then pause, then flash twice, then long pause. then repeat twice, a total of three. then will do the same for any codes in the computers memeory. code 42, four flashes, pause, two flashes long pause, repeat. once you get back to code 12, your done. then post the codes on here, or take them to a dealership, and see if someone can tell you what they mean. thats the best way to find out whats wrong.

I ran it for codes and got 12,13,15,34,44,53 but some of the codes were in the memory from prior situations so I dissconnected the bat. and reconnected it but now the car will not start at all so there are no codes to read in the system

Well get under you hood and under your car, check for vacuum leaks, check all of your sensors and I meen all of them. It's possible for it to be something really stupid or something major.

fuses. which battery cable did you disconect? dumb question i know, but alot of people disconect the red (positive) cable, and when it reconects it blows fuses. make sure they are all in tact before ya do anything else. also, there is a fuel pump fuse between the battey and the coolant overflow tank, thats always a headache maker, cuz on the diagram its kinda not really illustrated that its off the main harness. but yeah, thats my guess is that you blew a fuse of some type.

I'd have to agree. black=sexy. Plus black gives your car the "Im gonna tear you a new one so don't even look at me funny." kinda look to it. Thank god they painted all the GN's black...... and not that puke green that regals are known for. I'm not iroc, but I can help here. go to the gallery tab up at the top, load up your picture, and you can put it in your signature with that little past image button. you'll have to click on the picture and it will give you the link, just copy and past

ok, here goes...

code 12 - Diagnostic Mode (that means the ecm itself is working properly)

code 13 - Oxygen sensor or circuit
code 15 - Cooland sensor or circiut/low temperature indicated
code 34 - MAP sensor signal voltage low/MAF sensor or circuit
code 44 - Oxygen sensor or circuit - lean exhaust detected
code 53 - system over voltage (ECM over 17.7 volts)/Alternator voltage out of range/Vehicle anti-theft circuit(5.0 TBI)

um, now i just have to try and figure out why those codes are somehow related and keepin the engine from running, ill have to slam my head into this one for a while.

wow, that's a lot of shit, but it seems like one of them jumbles that will clear up with just one of them. Check for some sort of short going to your computer, fixing the voltage problem might fix the rest of the problems. I don't know where the coolent temp falls into play, but the rest of them I can see going off of each other. C'mon iroc, do your stuff.

yeah yeah *fumbling through books* 92RS is onto something i think, seeing as its all circuts........ it may be........ a short somewhere..... looking at schematics and wireing dagrams to see if there is a common point between all that stuff............. ill be back :)

although i still think its a blown fuse somewhere keeping it from starting, the codes are just why it was running like shit before. :) so again, check all the fuses.

ok i got the car started and it ran for 20 min again just like before and then it quit so I plugged in the code reader just like before but now there are no codes in the system aaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! mother f#@ker I am pulling out my hair here

When's the last time you had a tune up? I would go ahead and do a full one. Cap/rotor, plugs/wires, air filter, fuel filter, pcv valve, check your egr valve, all your vaccum lines, all your hoses, and holey shit I just thought of something. Your spark advance is computer controlled, you might just have a forked up computer. I had a grand am that read no codes but was fried. But do all that, you can, I think, take your computer to the dealer and the can check it. If it's the computer your out like 100 bucks..I think. That's how much it was out of my grand am.

ok I finnaly figured it out. try not to laugh too hard. A while back I gave her a tune up and replaced the entire ignition system with accel componants everything eccept the ignition control module. It turns out that the icm also tells the injectors when to spray as well as controling the ignition so when it went out it was cutting out the injectors along with the spark again thanks for the help guys
