I have had my euro for about 3 months now. I changed the plugs and wires cuz i could tell they had prolly never been touch. As soon as i tuned it up it started runnin really bad. it likes to surge like it is runnin out of gas and sometimes dies both in park and in nuetral. I have replaced the throttle positionin sensor and the crank positionin sensor with no change. The service light comes on but the code reader show no fualt codes. On hard acceration there is hesitation and when comin to a stop, but not all the time. It is like the car has a mind of its own. The 3.1 is an awsome engine at times and at other times i just want to blow the whole car up. I would be very thanful for any help. I am just really tired of :banghead: Thanks again

Hmmmm have u put on the lights in the car might be an electrical problem i had. I had the same problem on my 95 lumina after i changed the plugs it started doing this too but only problem was when i would put my headlights on the radio would flicker and my speedo would go up to 40mph in park :screwy: . After spending 100 bucks and buying a new altenator it was corrosion on the battery terminals that was the culprut.

yeah at first I thought maybe it was not gettin enough charge from the altenator cuase the guage would start dropin from like showin about 14 which is the 3/4 mark down to the half mark, but had the altenator checked and it was chargin just fine. When the surgin would start, the rpms would range from 1000 (which it normal in park) all the way down to 300 and at that low the altenator wont do nothing, so runnin anything that draws power would put a drain on the system. When i would shut the car off and leave it be for a why and start it up like an hour later it would be back up to normal. I have pulled the cables a few times and there is no corrosion there. T he old plugs i took out were so worn that the gap was 0.080, the gap is suppose to be 0.045. Maybe the computer got so use to runnin at that gap that it aint able to reset it self. Hell i aint got a clue, that is why i am so confuzzled:confused:

Sounds like an eletric problem for sure look at the battery terminals. This is what happened with me a friend of mine told me to clean the terminals i notcied the Positive side of the battery had a wire going from the battery to another box that said AUX BAT and when i took the red plastic cover it was corroded like hell so i cleaned it off wit the terminal cleaning tool and used the CRC Battery cleaner on it i did this about 5 times and my car was running like it had a new wiring system put in it. so check that out and see our cars maybe different since i have a 95 and u have a 93 but see if the positive side of the battery cable goes to another box that might be the case.

OK, I will check that tomarrow and see what i find. It couldnt make things any worse than they are now. Thanks for the input, keep your fingers crossed.

What aux battery? Is it the red box that has a big screw coming out of it? The only thing this box is used for is for jumping other cars off, or charging the battery. But I assume that corrosion on this screw could causing problems.

Hi, I have had two lumina z34's and one 3.1 chevy lumina euro, i know exactly wht your problem is. You have vaccum hose on the back of the motor on the passenger side that is loose, this just happened to me two weeks ago, it is a common problem when you work on them you knock that vaccum hose loose and all is messed up, try it im tellin you, check all your hoses

ok, i looked for any loose vacuum hose both visually and by usin carb cleaner, nothin. i have also eliminated the cat bein a problem, i gutted it and still the same problem. i swear i am about to just throw a match in the tank or something like that. next i am gonna try the map sensor and see where that leads me.
