booze taste test?

Well, I was buying some booze today (15% off purchases over $100, the perfect reason to blow over a hundred bucks on booze :icon16: )
Anyway, this was at SAQ, quebec's liquor store (Quebec = province in Canada, they speak French and English there).
Well, they had a taste test for some Baileys rip-off, and you could also get taste tests for the bulk liquor.
I've never seen this in Ontario, or anywhere else Ive been. Im guessing this is becuase liquor control in Quebec is, errr, not too stringent. Pretty much the most liberal laws of any English speaking country (not to sure what its like in Australia or NZ).

So, the poll is whether or not liquor stores where you live can give out taste tests at the store?

And of course, the ever popular opinion on it

No man in the US I have never seen that, sounds like an okay idea...you cannot really get fucked up off a taste test so not like people are gonna taste test and get smashed and drive so again seems like an ok idea

I agree, I think its a good idea....almost made me second guess buying some Bacardi and springing for the creamy stuff....but my inherrent desire to spend as little as possible for amount of alcohol required for intoxication won out :)

Yeah, they do taste tests IN store here - but only on licensed premises where you can/should be IDd first.

They do them in South Africa too, kinda cool to be able to try the 'new' stuff without having to fork out for a whole bottle too.

Unfortunately, the usual taste tests I end up walking past are for wine I'd only consider using for deglazing my cooking pans.

I do get to taste test cocktails from time to time which is a terrible terrible thing to have to endure...

Don't I wish!!! Sh!t, the other day I had to have them run my license through the computer, AND sign a slip before I bought my liquor. Stupid PA-regulated liquor stores.
