Okay heres tha deal:
I have a '96 Civic HB - i have tokico Whites - & coil over-sleeves-- but was planning on getting goldline springs-- i beleive they have a 2" drop--- now i wanna get 18" rims w/ either a 40 or a 35 series tire... so i wanna know can i drive w/ that or will i rub like hell!? --
as of now i have 17" focal f5's - w/ my coils @ about 1.5" drop...
& i rub a lil...

***
any will i rub w/ a 2" drop & 18z?

You could drive it granted you get the right offset and even then you won't be able to turn the wheel all the way without the tire rubbing on the inner wheel lining. And you could drop it about 1.5-2 inches. After that the wheel will rub on the fender when you turn the wheel even the slightest bit. The tires HAVE to be 215/35's. So if you don't mind having the turning radius increased significantly, then you can do it.

okay... so what would be tha "right" offset? - okay then say i only do a 1.5" drop--- it should be fine.. i mean i know a kid who has 18's on his civic w/ no drop & it looks good... But im getting custom fender work done to my car next season anyway... so yeah- what offset should i get-- also what is tha maximum rim width i can get...?!?...
Get back to me.

depending on the width of your wheels, most being 18x7.5 you should get at least a 43 offset... and a 1.5 drop should be just fine....

Like I said, you will rub in the front at least, no matter what. The rim is too big for the wheel wells. UNLESS......

You said you're getting custom fender work, which I assume to mean fender flares. If that's the case and you have the money. You could get rims with a custom offset. Say 30mm offset. That way you would extend the rim out from the car a little more and clear the inner fender lining so you wouldn't rub while at the same time, the fender flares still wrap around the tires so you don't have the "Reverse Offset Wire Wheel" look.

And the offset is positive. He has a +42mm offset.

tha offest on tha rims is 50mm i believe -- so they would sit in more-- & they are 18x7.5 - i wAs goin to get tha fenders re-arched.. but i was tlakin to a couple of autobody guys about civic fenders & they said they are really thin & hard to work w/ -- so it would be crazy $$... It would only be practical to do to a straight up show car-- but i want a daily driven show car... or something along those lines.. something that can handle me driving it all summer long - & not crack under tha normal stresses of life... -- so it looks like ill have my 18z - & have to adjust my coil sleeves until they dont rub.. also i NEED to get sway bars... -- but i hope tha 18z will = out tha car-- between tha kit & what lil drop i can do... I hope everything will fit together nicely... -- i dunno i guess ill see next season...
