1975 Monte wont start

hey guys im at my witts end here.

i was crusing up i495 in my monte when my generator light came on. next thing i know my temp light came on so when i started to change lanes to get over to the shoulder my front end started to smoke. soon as i got completely over to the right lane WOOSH huge cloud of steam came out. knew right then and there my radiator blew. i pulled my car over immediately and shut it off and popped the hood. sure enough the top hose weld for the radiator blew right out. alternator fan belt broke which drove the water pump as well.

had the car towed back to my house. started it up and drove it off the back of the flat bed and parked it. pulled the brand new radiator out and had the top hose rewelded and pressure tested. after i put it all back together i cleaned the engine compartment down with engine cleaner. i covered the distributor and alternator with plastic bags before doing so. after everything was done and dry i tried to start the car back up but to no avail. the car turns over but doesn't appear to be getting enough spark to keep it running. i can get it to run maybe 5 seconds max. i pulled the distributor apart and found that water got inside. i dried it all out and put it all backtogether but still it wont run. i decided to go ahead and replace the ignition module and coil and rotor which are all fairly cheap parts for this car. still running into the same problem. any ideas where i should go from here or something that i might have overlooked?

cliffs:
1. fan belt came off. radiator blew
2. car towed back to house and drove off flat bed truck
3. fixed problems and cleaned motor
4. car wont start. distibutor got wet
5. replaced ignition module, rotor, and coil car still wont start

help me please :(

nope no points on this year

74 was the last year for a distributor with points on the monte carlo. i think they switched in 75 to what i believe was called a breakerless distributor.

i also noticed when i first tore the cap and rotor off that there was alot of black burn under the rotor. my dad seems to think that it might be a little condensor that needs replacing but i think that the springy metal thing... bear with me here as i have no idea what its called ;) but that springy metal thing that the rotor attaches to had some black electrical burn on it as well. is it possible to replace the springy metal thing without replacing the whole distributor?

i know its gotta be an electrical ignition spark type of issue as the car is getting plenty of gas even to the point that i've flooded the carb a few times.

arrrrgh!!! spark plugs were the culprit

i guess they got fouled out with the carb cleaner i used. they were firing orange, put new ones in, firing bright white/blue, changed them all car fired right on up. thanks for takin the time and lookin guys
