I had a 1974 240D to start my journey with Mercedes Benz. Then I got a 240D 1979. Her name is Faith. The 74's name is Grace. Last year during te Texas floods, I have never had a car peform like Faith did. She is heavy, and solid. She got me home every night, challenging the water as no fear to slow her down. I have never had a car as dependable and reliable as she is. But now I would like to learn more in order to take better care of the young lady. She did her job well. Rolls like a tank. Now I need to learn my job better in taking care of her the way she deserves.
Anybody with insight, I am willing to lear. A open book I am. So just teach me what you know!
Thanks a bunch, and enjoy the holiday season!

1. Change the oil every 3000 miles with a CI-4 rated oil and Hengst oil filer.
2. Adjust the valves and check timing change stretch every 15,000 miles.
3. Change the pre and main fuel filters, power steering filter and air filter every 12,000 miles.
4. Change A/T fluid and filter at least every 30,000 miles.
5. Change coolant about every 24 months.
If it’s been a while since any of the above have been done, or you don’t remember when the above was last done, do the above now.
That’s it!!!
BTW, Last summer during the heavy rains in Tampa I took my 81 300 D through a very deep puddle in the road, the gas engine cars were lying dead on the side of the road with wet, dead electrical systems, my Diesel just kept running. Even if the alt quits the engines keep going! These are great cars.
Good Luck
