Speakers

I just bought a 96 neon and I was wondering if anyone ever changed out their factory speakers. I bought a pair of 6 3/4 Polk audio for the front doors and a set of Rockfords 6x9 for the rear deck.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated on the install, what not to do's what I should have before hand....

hey if i were u i would bass blockers in so if u ever want to add an low watt amp later u dont have to mess with them. They cost around 5 dollars a piece. polk audio is a good brand thats what i have for subs and highs :evillol:

Bass blockers work well on the front speakers. But unless you already have your subs. I wouldn't put the blockers on the rear, unless all you want is highs only all the way around.

Whats up I have a 96 neon and i put fosgates in the back. Im waiting for my pioneers to come for i can out them in the door. I kept the stock tweeters in the dash because they sound pretty decent. I originally had a he10 powered by a fosgate 600 watt amp but it rattled the trunk and i dint want to dynomat it. so i just have the speakers in now. But the speakers sound so much better then stock speakers.

Dynomat is the ritch kid's way out. If you have a couple wrenches and a screwdriver, you can accomplish the same effect by ensureing everything is tight. Adjust your hinges, and latch. Find a couple pieces of packing foam and stuff behind your liscense plate. Don't leave it all hanging out and ugly, or thick enough to bulge your plate. Use just enough to keep it secure. You can accomplish so much without FREE ADVERTISING for Dynomat!

Apparently Dynomat blocks in sound waves though, thats the only difference. I think I would believe it but right now all I care about is getting the back of my trunk to stop rattling. The area where the keyhole is vibrates so bad...so I need to put some foam in between to stop it from moving. Anybody got any ideas on some thick, dense, all weather foam to put along the edge? I cant think of anything around the house.

In home depot, they have spray in foam insulation. I don't remember the brand.... Anyway, you can put this stuff in any small space and it will secure movement. and if you overfill the small space, you can cut it smooth.
Hell, cut it smooth, bondo over it and paint it. That will give it the original look, and it won't rattle at all. Just don't get it into the lock cylinder. those things are hell to clean out!

I have that in my trunk lid...just dont get it on anything you dont want foamed. Its stickier than pine tree sap, and thats bad.
