Driving a GSR

I just got a 95 GSR teg, and I was wondering what the RPM is that Vtech kicks in, and what are some good shift points for daily driving that will keep the car lasting long. and any advice on racing it would be helpful too, although i wont be doing that for awhile.

VTEC (might wanna remember how to spell that around here) Kicks in at about 5200 rpm I believe.

hmmmm shift points to make a car last longer... I haven't had any luck with that yet. but if I am trying to baby her or save some gas I just try and shift around 3000 rpm..... but most of the time I forget:iceslolan and shift around 5-6000:iceslolan, and for racing I bring her up to just under redline of 8000 rpm 'cept for launch then I do to it at about 1500-2000 (:eek7:studded winter snow tires:eek7:) or about 3000-4000 for my summer tires.

I think your GSR VTec kicks in at 4500 RPM. I used to think it kicks in at 5600 RPM until I installed a VTEC light or indicator. Do you guys actually feel your vtec kicking in? I drove my friends 2001 SI and I can hear and feel the vtec. I don't know if the Integra GSR 4dr is supposed to be quieter or smoother? Any opinions?

B18C1 VTEC is at 4400rpm at the earliest (where it crosses over is dependent on more than just the rpm, throttle position, coolant temp for example are other factors, but not ALL of the other factors).

at ~5700rpm the secondaries open.

Someone said the SIs are ouder because the B16 head is better flowing... :sly:

I also heard that the b18c has vtec kick in at 44-45 like everyone says and then at 5600 the secondaries open up for better air flow, where as the SI is just all at once, and not as gradual or smooth.

Well as I am sure you guys know, but if not here you go the B16's don't have secondaries, the B18C and B18C1 are the only two motors with the dual runner intake manifold. The dual runner intake manifold is what makes it feel so smooth, it gives the GSR optimum (spelling) power in the lower rpm range and then the secondaries open up and use the second set of intake runners that are shorter and straighter that the other set. The secondary runners gives better high rpm power. So basically they combined two different manifolds into one. Kinda the same consept that VTEC works on.

Thanks WHTTEG. Thats why when I was gonna upgrade(downgrade?) to OBD-I, I was gonna use the P72, even though theyre like twice as much, rather than like a P28, cause those will just leave them wide open the whole time, unless you get like a Skunk2 which only has one set.

got v-tec?

you guys, a stock gsr kicks in at 5900! PROMISE.

Sorry but you are wrong the GSR's VTEC cross over is at 4875 and the secondaries open at 5750. I have a stock P75 bin on my computer so I know that the info above is correct.

Im not doubting you, but a P75 would have that information? A P72 obviously will... but a P75? Interesting. :)

Spectre927 is right... a p75 is from a OBD II LS so there would be no V-TEC at all... im not being an ass jus stating the facts

Im only 14 give me a break......

IM guessing you meant the P72, but since you have an LS I didnt think youd have it, but then again you know a lot of shit, so I wouldnt be suprised. :icon16:

Yea I meant P72 sorry :banghead: This was one of those cases were I was doing way too many things at once LOL. But yes I have a bin for the P28,P06,P72, and the P75 I also have a custom bin that I made for my P75 for my cams, when I finally get them in . I got my cams from a friend and we tuned his car and burned a chip for it with the cams in his car so it will be close enough til I get some dyno time.:p

Where'd you get them? I guess I could search.. but since we're on the topic... I wouldnt mind checking them out. Or is there some kind of legal deal? Let me know. Thanks

I can email them to you if you want a copy. You have to have crome, uberdata or hondata to read them and burn them to a chip. But they are the base lines. They give you something to start from when creating a custom map. Let me know if ya want a copy :bigthumb:

4000 rpm is a good time to shift when u are just driving regular. Listen to the engine...if it sounds like it's pulling too hard, shift...
