your gunna need to use an wrench... gear wrenches are nice for this job. reach underneath the manifold or you can crawl under the car and reach up and do it, you will just have to turn it inch by inch, it sucks i know but thats what ya gotta do! good luck

Gear Wrench is a brand name. They have a ratcheting box end. Absolutely indispensable if you fo a good bit of work on DSMs. This job is a fine example. If you have FWD, there should be plenty of room to go from the bottom. If you have AWD, you can drop the tcase, or try from the top. 1g is much easier to get from the top than a 2g is. It can be nearly impossible with the shyte 2g manifold taking up all kinds of space.. If this is the first time the mani has been off, dont forget the brace that atttaches to the block as well, underneath, and has several vacuum lines on it.

If I remember correctly, because of the way the manifold runners curve down right off the flange, you dont have room to fit a socket in there. You will need to use a open end or box end wrench, either regular or gear wrench style. Once you get that support bracket out of the way, going from the bottom gives pleny of room for a good rotation, so it doesnt take too long.
