Why does Chevy not..........

make 6 Cyl. standard in all there S10 models. The reason I ask is this: I have been shopping for a new S10 for about 3 months.I drive a 92 S10 with a V6. Bought it off my brother-in-law about 3 years ago. It now has 173,000 miles on it. Anyway, I was looking to upgrade to a newer model. What I have found is disappointment! I test drove many ranging from 99-02's. MOST of them had the small 4 cyl. engines. One in particular that I liked was a beautiful blue sport model. It had the 4 Cyl. auto. tranny.......This thing seemed like it had NO power. My truck now has more power than the newer one that only had 16,000 miles.
I would love to go to a newer 6, but the payment is a little more than I can afford. Does the 4 Cyl. Standard Tranny have considerable more power than the automatic???

The reason you are finding so many 4 cylinder trucks on the used car lots is because of the lack of power issues you described...people are upgrading to the V6.
The 4 cylinder was standard to help vehicle manufactors meet CAFE standards for gas mileage

Hey out here in Hawaii at $2.37 a gallon for loqwest octane I love my 4. Yea it has no power and can't get out of its own way. Forget about loading it with any weight.Gets about 30mpg however.
