i have an interesting thought...

all domestics and imports have the exact same problem. kids get them and put cheep parts (imports talking about mufflers) or stickers (domestics talking about SVT, Z28 and so forth) then talking about how badass there car is. :eek7: the domestic guys get away with it more because domestics have been around much longer (duh, tuning wise anyway) and have a better name for themselfs. imports dont. dont get me wrong... im not dissing domestics... just saying imports can be fast 2!! leave the 1/4 for the domestic, leave the real racing for imports. if anyone wanders which i like more, import/domestic... i dont really care... LS1 is god of domestics, and RX7 is god of imports. end of story. (personnally i want a 300ZX twin turbo... its just so sexy)

i look at it like this: for 3k, you can make a 70's GM A-body handle like a japanese import, or make a japanese import run a mid-12 1/4, it just depends on what you want to do, and how you want to do it.

Yea skyline is pretty close to god of imports but as far as availability in the U.S. the supra still comes out ahead in my book, hard to find but you CAN find them. Also any car that can run deep 12s stock with a good driver and track conditions is ok in my book (and also run 160+). 300 TT is a sexy car as is the RX7 but in my book i think the supra is still my favorite japanese import, looks good and hauls ass. I dont like alot of imports (esp fwd ones) but to each his own and i can respect anyones decision to fix up/ work on whatever they choose, it's their money not mine. However this is a Camaro board and the topics should be left for camaros.

It's all a personal opinion thing. If you want to drive an import, then by all means, buy and import. If you want to win races, then get some V8 muscle... ;)

(honestly). i'm saying imports, but i do not mean your average civic or teg; i really mean RXs, Supras, 300s, 280s, 240s, skylines, WRX/STI, BMW, and pull an S2000 and NSX out of honda (ignore that 90k price tag on the NSX lol)

Definately needs some traction there, and possibly a better 1/4 mile driver. I'm sure it does just fine on the road track though. Nice vid though, car sounds pretty wicked.

lol, um, i would agree with you hemi, if you were compairing the skyline to a yenko, of course the yenko could never handle twisties with the skyline even though it would devour it on the straits. but american cars have come along way too. my IROC handles 90 degree turns at 40-50 mph accelerating out the backside, daily driving, with minimal body roll and nary a squawk from the tires. to me thats more than a drag car, and speaks volumes as to its ability to handle. and thats 14 year old, stock techknowlogy. with all the wear and tear 150,000 miles can bring. im not saying that as she is now i could hang with a skyline, i cant, but you seem to be COMPLETELY dismissing american cars as handling cars at all. wich makes you dumb. even in 1969 in australia a ferrari went against a firebird on a roadcourse, guess who one??? they tied. so before you go around telling everyone in america that they can only be taken seriously in a strait line, and are unable to take turns, perhaps you should know what your talking about first. oh and on the skyline, sense when did traction control become a mystical rocket science deal???? lots of cars have it. move on. now i will agree that on forums 90% of people will talk up what they drive, because its what they know and love, and we are all a bit biased, its a fact of life. it makes for interesting debates. but to come on the CAMARO forum, and say that all american iron is crude, rudementary strait line no class, no finess peices of crap, just makes you sound like an ignorant turd trying to sound smarter than he his. for the record, my stock 89 RS, which weighs around 3500lbs, could handle backroad twisties as well as a honda del sol. which weighs quite a bit less, and should handle quite a bit better. i know its hardly a skyline, but still. i find that pretty contradictory to your previous statement.

I've seen a mustang. cough cough.. win one of them europe twisty races. It's not a camaro but it's american muscle at it's second best. I've seen police camaros chase rice beaters up and down rural streats, my streat to be exact, it was cool..I've seen vets handle curves like my hand on a boob, and I've seen a bone stock mustang cobra handle the back roads as good if not better than any thing Japan could dish out.
