It seems to just be an options package offered by the factory, only in Japan, of course.
It's only offered with a manual transmission, but the gear ratios are the same as the NSX
It has about a 45 kg weight advantage over the regular NSX. The NSX Type S Zero has even less weight by about 50kg.
The power and torque numbers are the same, so there is probably no difference in the engine.
There doesn't seem to be any change in the body styling.
The NSX Type S is lower, but length, width, track and wheelbase seem to be the same.
It has some interior features, like a Momo steering wheel, and a two-tone scheme that matches the body color.
Overall, they seem to be sold as near race-prepped versions of the NSX.

Sorry this isn't more concise, but I can't read much Japanese. ;) Try it yourself! (http://www.honda.co.jp/NSX)

The Type S (and the variant S-Zero) are limited-edition special-order versions only available in the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM).
The closest thing to the Type S is the limited (50 in US) Alex Zanardi edition NSX fixed-roof coupe that was sold in 1999. It features most of the lightening, including removal of power steering. It also has a stiffer, track-tuned suspension.
Some of the key differences are:
- no Recaro carbon-fiber racing bucket seats
- no mesh engine cover
- no color choices (USDM car was in New Formula Red only)

For the NSX Type S, Driver & Passenger SRS Airbag, Cruise Control, Power Steering, Leather Steering Wheel, Traction Control System (TCS), are optional rather than it being standard on the other NSX
s. It is also equiped with Titanium Shiftknob. The Type S also has Recaro Racing Seats.

only difference from a normal nsx and a type s is basically the weight. the type s is lighter and is more of a real race car.
the type s-zero is like said earlier by nsx1164 a limited version. its even more lighter than the type s. but otherwise the same spec.
however type s and the zanardi editions are very different. type s comes in 27 colors (i think, maybe more) and the zanardi is just the formula red. also again the weight difference
