Transmission Fluid

Hello.
I am having trouble with my transmission.
I was adding fluid to an already leaky transmission.
I heard fluid hitting the ground under the vehicle and was worried.
I grabbed my digital camera and this is what I saw.
Do any of you have any ideas about this?
Is it an overflow?
Or could that be my leak?

Looks like the dipstick tube has fell out of the transmission somehow. If you feel with your finger right above the two pan bolts in the pic you should be able to feel the whole that the tube slides back into. There should also be a rubber seal in the hole, if not get a new one and replace it.

I don't like to dissagree with people or prove them wrong :( but...The fill tube is on the opposite side of the transmission. This tube is indeed a vent. Also this is a AWD. Heres the scenarios: The transmission is way overfull, that would be best. Next, the input seal on transfercase is defective(this lets fluid work between transmission and transfercase so you get wrong readings on dipstick. Worst case...The torque coverter is overheating as its sitting there in running in park(pretty unlikely). Or a filter seal is torn, missing or hardend so its introducing air into the system. As well as some other stuff...

Thanks for clearing that up RexNfx400. Without my Aerostar present, I was just making a guess as to what that tube was. I brought this post back from the dead (notice the date) and thought I'd put my $.02 in since nobody replied.
Hey, at least I learned something new from your input. I have never worked on the AWD models before and now I know what that tube is for future reference.
