Let me know when you're going to install. I might want to come by.

I have a question I would like answered and this is one XOC could probably answer (hopefully we have that matter settled). I saw the steering kit and I have concerns. The primary one being the use of heim joints and bolts. Correct me if I am wrong here (heres where XOC may be able to help), but don't heim joints use a reduced angle of operation from standard ball joints? If this is so, won't using them likewise reduce front end articulation gained by the lift? And is it wise using a standard bolt to hold everything together? I mean, won't that be the weakest link and a deadly one at that? Also, is anyone concerned about the fact that the two heim joints bolted together are metal-to-metal? Any thoughts?

Not if the bolts have a huge shear rating (I am assumeing that you are worried about shearing a bolt in two)
as for the heim joints beats me if they will limit travel, we could ask AC to ramp thier X again and measure it now vrs when they did it after putting on the revolvers. Are they joints metal to metal? hard to tell from those pictures.

Ok, I discussed the setup with a friend of mine who actually runs something similar to this on his rock crawler TJ. From what he tells me, my concerns are unfounded. Apparently this steering setup is in use all over the place on trucks far tougher than Xs. The Heim joint movement angle depends on the Heim joint used. It should not restrict articulation. As for my bolt concerns, he is running the same grade 8 bolt setup on his TJ with a high preformance Chevy V-8 with Dana 60s front and rear. That pretty much nixes all of my concerns since I trust this persons expertise implicitly. Go for it and let me know how it performs. One thing I will tell you though, of those I talked to about this, most of them don't drive their trucks on the street. So this is based primarily on trail use.
