Can't unlock door: HELP!!

I just bought a used Jetta 111 GL 1995. After a months time, my driver side door cannot be unlocked, and I had to go all the way to the passenger door and unlock it. ( yes, it does have an alarm system, but the dealer didn't give me the remote Keyless entry).

I thought it would fix itself one day, but much to my surprise, I cannot now unlock both doors. The key goes in fine and I can trun it around, but it doesn't pop up the lock.

What could be wrong? So, improvising , I pop the trunk, pushed the backed seats in, and unlocked the doors and lo and behold, the ALARM started going off. I was really taken aback, and just shut the door and went off home, not knowing what to do. ( atleast, i know the alarms works)

Whats the best solution to fix this. Should I take it to a VW dealer and ask them to fix it, or just ask a mechanic and remove the alarm system, and maybe that fixes the door. Has anyone experienced this??

Sorry to hear that you got a VW. They are known today as one of the worst cars to buy. It sounds like the sliders are bad for the lock linkage. You should have a garage look at it unless you are handy with cars.
