Theft and key copying

Some #@%*ing car thieves tried to take my 2003 X5 4.4 last night. They punched the drivers side door lock and turned the key to the right causing all the windows to go down and the alarm to disable. The only thing they removed was my manual which contained my registration. They didn't attempt to pop the ignition. Does anyone know if the thieves will be able to order a key to my x5 with the registration and vin#.
The icing on the cake. It was raining pretty hard and all the windows and sunroof was left open after they left with my manual and reg.
Any advise on treating the wet leather after I dehumidify the car.
Thanks for any responses,
Nick

Yep, they'll prolly be back. They can get a key made off the info they got. Or, they might be using that info. for another car. As for the leather. Dry it out promptly then get a real good leather conditioner for leather coats. The kind that cleans and conditions. The conditioner will keep it from drying out too much.
I would suggest getting a real nice alarm with the transponder. Take a look at the 2-way systems at DEI. www.directed.com
