2k4 cav stereo hookup

Hey guys, i'm wanting to hook up a diferent head unit on my 2k4 cav but I want to avoid as many complications as possible. I've heard about some of the vehicle operations being run through the stereo and i'm wondering if there is any way around having problems. Is there a specific harness that I should get for the new stereo? My 2000 s-10 had a similar issue but was fixed with a harness hookup. Any thoughts?

I have my factory stereo headunit in my trunk. The best thing I can tell you to do is take it to a place and have them install it. Because otherwise you will have problems. Believe me, if I could do it all over again I would have just taken it somewhere and have them do it.
