I have a 1999 Malibu and my fuel Injectors are out for the fourth time. I've had them replaced three different times, fortunatley at that time I still had extended warranty. And now for the fourth time my car again is stuttering, and guess what? Injectors out once again and no warranty this time. On top of that both passenger and driver back window motors are out and now need to be replaced. Why does this keep happening with my fuel injectors?

You may have a contaminated fuel system...I would inspect the top of the injector for signs of plugging from foreign material.

hey, my check engine light kept coming on & the error was the fuel injectors. i've already replaced to injectors. a few months later the light came on again reading the same error. so, i decided to get the injectors cleaned. that solved the check engine light and i haven't had any problems since.

how often do you change the fuel filter?

i think the book says you should change it every 60,000 miles. but it wouldn't hurt to change it. its an inexpensive maintence change. i changed mine after all my injector problems, that filter was so dirty! i'm glad i changed it

I think you're on the right track. I change my fuel filter every 10,000 miles or so, and have NEVER had a fuel injector problem on my '98 since day one. HOWEVER, I did have a rough idle several months ago, which I concluded was due to my gas station changing from Chevron to Sunoco. I switched to Exxon, and all's been fine since. Guess the injectors on the Malibus are picky.

Do you use fuel injector cleaner regularly? I put a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in my tank at every oil change and I have not had a problem with my injectors or rough idling.
