Im in the process of gettin a eclipse and i was wondering what is better a 2000 eclipse GS with 40,xxx or a 2002 eclipse RS with 40,xxx???
And what is the difference in the 2? the GS is standered and the RS is auto. and i want the fastest also!

Get the 2000 GS manual. There is a difference in the exhaust for one. Most 2001 and all 2002+03 models have california spec emissions. The 2000 has both cali-spec and federal spec. Most likely the GS will be fed-spec unless it was brought thru cali.

The manual transmission is the better if you want to mod the car. Stock, the auto dynos at 103 whp while the manual is at 111 whp. Not a big difference, but the power is put down thru the manual much more efficiently. I would personally get the manual transmission becuase I like to be in total control of the car.

not to mention that if they have the same milage and there is a 2 year difference, then you know that the rs was driven arround a lot more than the gs was...
