I was just wondering what exactly are glass packs. And what could I do to mod them to make them sound deeper and better. I know I have an h-pipe but not sure of the measurements everyone is speaking of. I'm not automobile literate so you may have to do some explaining of details. Thanks. Please don't flame. :2cents:

Glasspacks are straight through "mufflers" that have a round case with fiberglass packing around the tube. For them to have a deep rumble you need a big block engine....J/K. They sound great with any V8. They sound the best with tailpipes but sometimes have turndowns attached. They give a really crackly exhaust note.
What measurements do you mean? Late model mustangs pretty much all have 2.5 inch dual exhausts with an H-pipe.

Glass Packs may also be known generically as "resonators". I think that a general rule of thumb is that the bigger the resonator the deeper and less crackly the sound.

I'm really not a big fan of those tubular glass packs. They start to sound like ass when the packing breaks up. Although I did have a Cherry Bomb on my old Cougar years ago.

Glasspacks will never really sound deep. They will always have that sound and it will get even more annoying as the packing inside breaks down.

Uhhh, I've always heard good sounding glasspacks, except when used on an engine with less than 8 cylinders or without any tailpipe whatsoever. Purple hornies are the exception to the latter.
Then again, I come from the midwest, where every truck older than a 95 has glasspacks on it.....mostly because they are cheap, but everyone there likes the sound, too.
Not sure of a resonator being the same thing. Resonators usually resonate (make it louder and sharper) and glasspacks will actually muffle sound some.

Could you people tell me if glass packs is a company or just a type of Muffler made by somebody else.

It's a type. Dynomax Magnums, Thrush, Purple Hornies, Cherry Bomb, Flowtech Red Hots, and several Generics. They come in almost any tubing size and from 10 inches to almost 30 inches long. The longer ones will be slightly deeper sounding with a little less crackle.
If you want to put them on your 'stang, about the only place they fit right would be just after the cross tube in the H-Pipe, then you'd have to put tubes in place of the factory mufflers to make the 's' shape. I thought about it, but mine crackles pretty hard through the stock mufflers (and I unhooked them on the dyno, they eat a whopping 3 HP. I will stay with stock mufflers thanks).

The exhaust i just put on my car are glasspacs, The sound is alot different then normal exhaust as everyone else has said. It is only about 20 long gives a great sound with the Xpipe. Not sure what year or engine you have but SLP just started making mustang exhaust and it is slightly cheaper than the magnaflow or borla glasspacs, great fit sound and performance.
