i tried something yesterday, that i dont' know wheter many of any of you have tried...
i got some sand paper, and stuck it onto the hood of my fd, at first, i thought it looked ok, but i found it nasty to touch, so i spread white glue all over the top of the sand paper (reasonably thin, not very even)
now i stuck this sheet on top of the hood (cut into the size of the hood), and it looks amazingly like a real carbon hood... no camera so can't show u guys, but i find that the texture looks more real than any decal could, and the feel of it too.....
anyway, just thought i'd let u guys know.

Sandpaper that looks like carbon fibre?
Seeing is believing, without pictures I can't believe a piece of sandpaper can look very realistic, sorry.

I can see what you mean, black sandpaper has twinkles of metal in it that make it look carbon fibre like, however, the texture of sandpaper is nothing like carbon fibre carbon fibre is smooth and I can't see how PVC could do enough to make it like that.

seems a lot of mucking around. You would be better just painting it like carbon using the Tamiya method. Here is my 350z one. Sprayed Tamiya Satin black then misted Tamiya graphite Metallic through wedding veil then clear coated.

hmmm, well the sandpaper looks like that pic posted above, and as for the feel, if u cover it with pva, then it feels like it has a plastic coating over it.... i duno, if u cbf just squeeze a bit onto a corner of sandpaper, and then let it dry, you'll feel that it becomes smoother (pva has to be quite thick, but thin enough to dry within 30 mins)
