Radio does not work after intalling new battery... (Passlock/VATS)?

A friend of mine has a 1996 pontiac sunfire and has quite a bit of trouble. Seems to be originating from the anti-theft system. I looked around the net a bit but couldn't find the steps to reset the radio code to make the radio work again after installing a new battery...

Radio is totally locked and the passcode has been long lost. I was wondering if there is some sort of universal bypass code to reactivate it... or a set of possible codes... maybe even the location of a sticker in the car listing the permanent hardwired code...

If any more info is needed I'm sure I can dig it up...

But what should she do to take care of this trouble? Or would it be easier to just buy and install a new radio?

yea, i had the same problem after i changed the battery in my cavalier. i took it to the local gm dealership, they hit something in the cd player that gave them a code, then they called a number and it gave them the final code. didn't cost me anything, so that should solve your problem.

If you can't get it for free (some dealers charge $60-100) visit www.geocities.com/unlocker03 to access you radio unlock code and instructions.

Hi,
I sell this unlock code a lot cheaper than anyone else, including the dealers. I sell them for GM, Saturn, Buick, Pontiac, Geo, Chevy (Chevrolet), Oldsmobile, GMC, and many other makes. Take a look at these pages...
