1996 GMC Jimmy w/ Blown Engine

To all,
I just found this forum, and figured that this is where the experts hang out!

I have an option to purchase a 1996 GMC Jimmy 4D, 4WD, auto trans, loaded with all options, but the motor is blown. It has a 4.3 V6, and i believe it was run with no oil.

I am no stranger to wrenching on cars - i keep a 1988 Thunderbird TurboCoupe on the road as my daily driver!

Questions:
1. What year range for the 4.3 liter motors am I looking for? I am probably looking for a long-block and possibly transmission.
2. Are there any years to stay away from?
3. Are there any major issues invlovled with a swap to a like motor? I assume I would have to use all sensors for the 1996 motor to make sure the sensor ranges match the computer.
4. Any idea on what I should pay for the vehicle itself?

Thanks in advance,

I believe the Vortec motors came out in '96. YOu definitely want to stay with one of those as they were much improved over the previous series.

The 4.3 is bulletproof. Shouldn't be any major issues swapping it over. As far as price, I personally wouldn't pay more than a couple G's.
