rear air

i've got a '93 villager and the rear air doesn't work at all. Does anyone have any ideas what could cause this. Thanks in advance.

need more info...what do you mean "doesn't work"? blower, actual temp? Check your fuses first and foremost>>>

Did you check the TWO 15A REAR BLOWER fuses AND the 10A RELAYS fuses? If the blower just doesn't work at all and If the fuses are all alright then it just may be the blower relays themselves>>>>

They are located behind the panel, you'll have to take the WHOLE panel off, that means the WHOLE panel to locate the relays.....screws all around


what kind of climate control do you have; is it AUTOMATIC Climate?

actually, i don't think you'll have to take the WHOLE panel off for your application but that small panel below the rear controls......

I have a similar problem. My blower works but will not produce heat. Everthing else works except fuses are ok. have not checked relays but since the A/c works I figured it was not necc. What can cause the no heat problem in the rear A/c unit?

You might have a bad Heater water control solenoid, which doesn't switch on to let the coolant to the back heater core or a bad heater water control valve....check vac lines to them and electrical connection to the solenoid......they're behind the intake manifold against firewall...the solenoid is "bell" shaped and has two vac hoses hooked to it with an electrical connection..you can find the valve by following one of the vac hoses....

If someone had to for any reason had to remove some coolant from the system. You may very well have vapor lock (correct term?). Air trapped in the heater core.

Use the link that I attached above and follow the provided procedure to fix the problem.

The problem is in the front console - where you turn on the front/rear blower - inside there is a place that needs to be resoddered. My neighbor put a small jumper wire and plenty of solder on it and has worked great ever since. Or you can get an new one for about 400.00 from the dealer.
They tend to last about 3 years depending how much it is used. Apparetly poor design. To much electricity going through the small wire and it burns out. Not much to get it out, when you open it up you can see the brown area where it was hot - there are pictures to see what I'm talking about.
Appartently common problem with this vehicle.

Look at the stuff on my site on the left - first one is rear air - click on that it will show you how to remove and repair the ac controller.

I have a '97 Villager. The rear fan went out. I checked all the fuses, relay, etc. I pulled the front panel with the front and rear switches. Checked it all with a meter. The ground wire (black) for the rear fan speed (1-2-3-4) switch had lost the ground somewhere. I cut the wire and grounded it to the metal under the dash near the switches and radio. It works fine now but you have to be sure to turn your rear fan (front and back) switches off or it will run your battery down. The fan will not cut off with the ignition switch. I don't know how much difference there is between the '93 and the '97 but maybe this will help you get your rear fan going.

I fixed the same problem on my 97 villager. It's now working perfectly. Thanks.

I often fix this problem for a very small price - however, you will need to remember to turn the fan off when you get out of the van - if you remove the front console there will be a 2 wire plug (black and orange wires) unplugg it from the front head and make a short jumper wire and jump these 2 wires together - it will give you power to the rear without a new front head but it is now hot wired and will run with the key off

Read the posts so I tried this fix today-removed front console and unplugged black and orange wires and made jumper wire and it works great now.
Have to remember to shut blower off when turning car off or you will have a dead battery...small price to pay though.
