Clear Valve Covers ?

Hey guys , I thought about how you can get upgraded cam gears..Like any color you want then I realized...why..no one can see the color. So I am talking to Allan down at the shop yesterday and he says "These cam gears look cool, AEM is putting out nice stuff." I say "What's the point , can't see them. Why make them all flashy ?" So he says "Well the point is YOU know they look nice." I said "Actually , I know a guy that does high temperature acrylic molds and forms."

So I am going to talk to Steve and see if he can make some clear acrylic valve covers for my stealth. Of course a lot of money is going to go into this. Tell me what you guys think and I'll keep you updated on the progress as well.

acrylic won't hold up to the heat and will probably crack. Don't bother.

Timing belt/gear cover WOULD work yes... and I agree... Valve covers WON'T work.

I think he is coming from the same walk of people that call the air tubes coming off their throttle body the "intake".

i know a lot of people just take the covers off. i do not think it is really that big of a risk or anything.

Pray tell... What do you call that 3" chrome tube that connects the airfilter to the throttle body which is bolted to the intake manifold?

Intake tubing... "Intakes" are the manifold, as it was defined that way WELL before ricers started calling the tubing an intake... If you want to get technical about it, the entire system is the intake, including the MAF and airbox... And exactly how many cars come with a chrome tube connected to the TB? Plus, anyone looking for performance would use a polished aluminum pipe, as putting chrome on it just addes unneeded weight... Of course, a lot of people confuse pilished alum for chrome anyway.

And weight difference between chromed steel and aluminum? Remeber we are talking about a tube 3" by about 2 feet. You can strip more wieght off your car by taking a nice bowel movement before you make a run. LOL

I plan on taking a nice dump before I go down the track... every last ounce matters. LOL. Its not that that ONE pipe weighs a lot, its just when you start adding up the little things, it really does make a huge difference. But, this is coming from someone who has a gutted car. I'm just a huge fan of "All Go, No Show". I will have a show quality car at some point, but I am not going to pretend its a race car.
