acrylic help!!!

Hello guys!

I found my old kit collection last night, it was stacked in my garage since junior high. The kit is covered in brush paint acrylic clear! I need help to recover it...last night I tried with tamiya thinner for acrylic it kinda melt the body!!!!! arrgghhh hellppp..because it include some of the hard to find ones.

how could it melt the body???????? is it a regular plastic model kit?? who made it???

anyway if it were tamiya acrylic you just use 91% isopropyl alcohol from your local drug store.. very cheap. fill a bowl with half a bottle and just dip the body in it. tamiya acrylic is the EASIEST acrylic to remove. and alcohol is 100% safe for plastic.

if that doesnt work try this.. polly-s easy lift-off

Probably the very best solution for removing Tamiya acrylic is Windex glass cleaner. Isopropyl alcohol will work, but it may take a while if the paint is years old. Windex is a bit more aggressive due to its ammonia content. Again, it's safe for plastic. Like Pflau sed, fill a small bowl/container with it, and let it soak. Scrubbing it with an old toothbrush will also help when the paint is softened. Should be no problem at all to get it off!
