cobra vs STI vs Evo..now theres something to ponder about

If I remember right... I saw a shoot out between the Evo and STi.. and the Evo came out on top. There is a shootout between the STi and the '03 Cobra coming out that had the Cobra just edge out the STi. That leaves the Cobra and the Evo... could be close.

Actually its very close. 0-60 is close on these cars... the evolution pulling off a 4.59 (5.1 according to mitsubishi). And the Cobra not far with a 4.82. Quarter-mile times even closer, the Evo came out behind the Cobra :iceslolan The Cobra was recorded at [email protected] mph, and the Evo got a [email protected] mph. 60-0 the mitsubishi took the win though, Cobra stopped at 116 feet-Evo at 106 feet. Top speed the Cobra won though, got 159 mph (governed) and the EVO stoped at 156 mph (also governed). MOTORTREND June, 2003. So i guess both cars have their ups and downs.

the Cobra has more power and has a better 1/4 mile. but the EVO and STi are lighter and have better handling. but the EVO and STi are still competitive in 1320.

they are close but for my money i'd go with EVO i can't pass up that ride the looks grip AWD and turbo. don't get me wrong the cobra is sick but damn EVOs are neat.

All just depends on what you want the car for. You want a dragster get the Cobra, you want a rally car get the Evo. Personally I prefer drag so I would go with the Cobra nothin like the growl of American muscle.

All of these cars are great performers, but my vote goes to the Ford Cobra. I just don't think that chicks dig the Evo & STi, or even know what they are.

All great cars performance wise but the power they are getting out of stock block 03 Cobra's is f-ing ridiculous!

The STi looks the best...The cobra looks like any other regular mustang,unless you start paying close attention, I saw a STi a few days ago around here, It looked really nice,the Evo is not that nice,but it's a beast on the track..

Laff, Nacho how would you know its a beast on the track you get all your information from magazines. Looks all just depends on what you are looking for. Personally I prefer the Cobra the best. Not to long not to short. STi and EVO look like pudgy little things. Not to mention I'm not a big fan of sedans

OK so motor trend tested them to be close in the quarter and 0-60. Bad source of info. Put'em both on the track. Once that Cobra is on slicks with a real driver she'll run 12s. As for the EVO, with what you'd spend on a cold air intake and a header you could get the Cobra into the 11's (pulley, K&N, Gears, Exhaust) except then you have to put in a rollcage......I love real cars.

I respect the Sti but I hate the look of the car. Everytime I see one coming towards me it looks like it is giving a blow job. And the that wing looks like some 2 year old designed it and just stuck it on.

thats what I was getting at . the cobra is so overpowring for thoes tires it's insane. I think that all cobras should come with an extra set of rims with ET streets or Comp ta's on them.

Ok either I that is written with improper puncuation or that is not proper english because that doesnt make any sense. The most sense I can make out of that is that you are saying those cars you listed have 4 cylinders and cost 5g's less or so than the Cobra. And if that is the case the only two of those that apply are the EVO and STi. As for the insurance I'm pretty sure the insurance on an RX-7, supra, skyline, and 350Z are higher than the insurance on the cobra

The STI and EVO probly have a helluva time doing much more than chirping theirs, and a Mach 1 on street radials will more than likely stay lit through 2nd and into 3rd gear if you don't try for traction.

That was altatude corrected... I took the numbers that I have seen them run and ran it through the formula and that is 13.1 is pretty close to what I got

Um guessing since i'm the only one who loooked up the times before you stated that, that statement is directed to me. So here it goes, this thread is directed to a Cobra vs STI vs EVO, NOT cobra on slicks vs STI vs EVO. I'm not too sure what you mean a "real driver", but those guys do that for a living, there as real as you can get. So why a bad source of info? Is it because your mad that the Cobra didnt stomp the Lancer? Its NOT going to completely abolish any all-wheel drive, turbocharged, $30,000 car. Not in the quarter mile. soeme import can run 10's on stock internals...Skyline,supra,RX-7,300zx,and the NSX's,and the Tommy Kaira ZZ2 can run that stock..

LOL, yea right. the rb26dett is a good engine an al, but they can't handle alot of stock internals. the RX couldn't. the Nsx's compression is to high to add turbo to make it run 10's/ the 300zx is just to damn heavy. and the Tommy Karia is a supercar. The Supra is the only one I don't doubt, almost 700hp on stock internals.

and if oyu want to talk about cars that are stock that run 10's, guess what country holds the quickest 1/4 time stock? USA. 68 Cuda with the 440 (i think) run's low 10's. stock.

thought it was 426 but yup 1/4 go to good old USA.
