92 driver's window problem

My girlfriend has a 92 grand marquis, and the driver's side window has been problematic lately. It will go down slow and up slow, and to get it up, sometimes you have to push the button down and forward really hard. Well, this weekend I accidentally rolled it down all the way, which apartently I was not supposed to do, and now the window will not come back up. I was windering if anyone had any advice on what was the issue, or if someone had the shop manual in pdf or atleast the drivers door that they could send me so I could fix this soon. It is 20 degrees out, so I've become her taxi until it gets fixed.

A friend of mine had to take off the interior of the doors and fiddle with the guts so that I can pull it up manually.

Apparently there's some mechanism on these cars where even if you have a certain amount of grab on the window you still can't pull it up.

On my car I can pull up the driver's window though...dunno why.

Go look at my laundry list of things that happenned to my car so your girlfriend knows what she has to look forward to. :-)

Sounds like a dying/busted window regulator.

They're about $70 from Ford, and install with simple tools.

There's a write-up somewhere on www.crownvic.net for this, I'm not going to type it out.

Drivers windows usually go first because they are used the most. Mine went shortly before it was killed, and it only took about 1 hour in my driveway to fix it.
